Reported Arson Under Investigation - Inquiries are underway into a reported arson after eight motorcycles were damaged by fire on Angle Street in Pembroke under suspicious circumstances earlier this morning. Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen any suspicious individuals or activity in the Angle Street, Pembroke area around 6am Wednesday, February 6th to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 247-1744 at the earliest opportunity.
Two Men Arrested on Suspicion of Burglary
Around 9:45am on Tuesday, February 5th police officers responded to a reported burglary at a Vesey Street, Devonshire residence. Officers intercepted the suspects attempting to make good their escape on an auxiliary cycle and arrested both on suspicion of burglary.
The 32 year old Pembroke man and 26 year old Devonshire man remain in police custody pending further inquiries.
Arrest on Suspicion of Impaired Driving
Around 6:30pm on Tuesday, February 5th police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision on North Shore Road in Devonshire near Barkers Hill. It appears that an auxiliary cycle was being ridden along North Shore Road when the rider, a 70 year old Hamilton parish man, fell to the ground and was injured. The Hamilton parish man was treated at the scene by EMTs before being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for further medical examination. At last check, the victim was in stable condition and recovering on a general ward. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.
Reported Dog Attack
Around 7pm on Tuesday, February 5th police officers responded to a reported dog attack in the Great Bay Road, St. George’s area involving a female walker and a pit-bull dog. The victim, a 92 year old St. George’s woman, was treated for arm injuries at the Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre and later released. The Government Dog Warden also attended this incident and seized the dog reportedly involved pending further inquiries.
