Lottery Scam

The Bermuda Police Service Fraud Unit is aware of a new lottery scam that is currently in circulation around the island. The letter, which appears to be from a European country, claims that the recipient has won a cash prize and must provide personal information (including copies of a passport and/or driver's license) as well as banking details in order to receive their winnings.

Breaking & Entering

At 2:55 this morning, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Seabright Avenue, Paget residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that around 2:30am they were awoken by a loud noise inside the house.

Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 59 year old Franklyn Belboda of Warwick. Officers were on mobile patrol when they discovered Mr. Belboda in an unresponsive state inside a vehicle parked on Barry Road, St. George's at 10:30pm on Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene by an on call physician at 12:34am today.

Sudden Death - Witness Appeal

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for anyone who may have seen 59 year old Franklyn Belboda of Warwick or the vehicle he was traveling in, a grey Mitsubishi taxi license #T1810 in the last 48 hours, to contact Chief Inspector Andrew Boyce or Sergeant Robert Cardwell of the Serious Crime Unit on 299-4315 or the main Police number 295-0011.

Robbery

At 10:30pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported robbery on Happy Valley Road in Pembroke near Fort Hamilton. The victim, a 39 year old Pembroke man, stated that earlier he delivered a pizza to an area business. As he was leaving, he saw someone lying in the road next to a motorcycle.

Assault

At 5:55pm on Thursday, Police attended KEMH after a reported assault. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 34 year old Pembroke man, who stated that around 4:15pm he was on Rambling Lane in Pembroke standing next to his girlfriend's car. At the time, a man was acting in an erratic manner near the vehicle.

Arrest

At 1:30 this morning, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a business on Burnaby Street in the City of Hamilton. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that she saw a man walk out of the front entrance of the premises a few moments earlier. Police conducted a search of the area and located the suspect, a 48 year old man of no fixed abode, on Reid Street.

Impaired Driving

Around 10:25pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on St. John's Road in Pembroke, near the junction with Moores Lane.

At 5 this morning, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Tuckers Town Road, St. George's residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that around 4:30am they were awoken by noises from inside the lower level of the house.

Injury RTC

At 8am on Sunday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Harrington Sound Road in Smith's parish near the junction with Lolly's Well Road. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling west on Harrington Sound Road when the rider, a 20 year old St. George's man, attempted to negotiate a left hand bend and reportedly struck a rock in the road.
