Over the weekend police officers arrested two people on suspicion of impaired driving as the Selective Traffic Enforcement Programme (STEP) continues.

Officers also arrested seven people for outstanding warrants and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.

Single Vehicle Collision on Harbour Road

Around 10:20pm on Thursday, July 24th first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision on Harbour Road in Paget near the junction with Highwood Lane.

It appears that a car was being driven along Harbour Road when it collided with a wall.

Traffic Advisory: March on Parliament

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the motoring public that during a scheduled march on Parliament starting at 1pm Friday July 25th, vehicular traffic will be prohibited along sections of the following streets until the procession has concluded.

Temporary Closure of Somerset Police Station

The Bermuda Police Service would like to take this opportunity to inform the public, but more specifically those living in the western end of the island, that the Somerset Police Station will be temporarily closed from Wednesday July 23rd for approximately three weeks in order for a new radio tower to be installed onto the grounds adjoining the Police Station on Somerset Road.

As a result of this temporary closure, a temporary police office has been established at the Royal Naval Dockyard; Building #15 2 Sally Port Lane, North Basin, Dockyard next to the Makin’ Waves store, at the site of the soon to be opened Dockyard Marine and Community Police office.

Counterfeit Currency Advisory: Bermuda $100 & $50 Notes

The Bermuda Police Service is advising businesses and their staff as well as residents to be vigilant regarding counterfeit Bermuda $100 notes bearing serial number 242219 and counterfeit Bermuda $50 notes bearing serial number A30763 currently in circulation.

If counterfeit cash is detected during a transaction, the person receiving the fake money should hold on to it, note the description of the individual who tendered it and contact police immediately.

Seventh & Eighth Road Fatalities for 2014: Gladwin N’Tiko Smith & Meshach Swan

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the 7th and 8th road fatalities for this year, 32 year old Gladwin N’Tiko Smith and 23 year old Meshach Swan, who were fatally injured in separate collisions early Sunday morning.

Mr. Smith died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a roadside embankment and a stone pillar along Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Cedarberry Drive around 1:55am Sunday, July 20th.

Investigation Into Allegations of Sexual Offences

Detective Superintendent of Police James Howard - A thirty six (36) year old male police officer has been suspended from duty following his arrest in connection to allegations of committing sexual offences. Because of the nature of the offences and the fact that there is an active investigation underway no further comment will be made at this time.

Nine Year Old Boy Recovering After Apparent Near Drowning

At last check the victim of an apparent near drowning incident that occurred around 3:30pm Friday, July 18th at Admiralty House Park beach in Pembroke was recovering in stable condition on the children’s ward at the hospital.

The youngster, now confirmed to be a nine year old Pembroke boy, was initially warded in the Intensive Care Unit.

Fatal Motorcycle Collision in Southampton

Around 3:45am on Sunday, July 20th first responders were dispatched to a reported serious collision involving two motorcycles on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Evans Bay Road.

It appears that a 23 year old Hamilton parish man riding a motorcycle collided with another motorcycle carrying a female rider and a female passenger.

Fatal Motorcycle Collision in Hamilton Parish [Updated]

Around 1:55am on Sunday, July 20th first responders attended a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle collision on Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Cedarberry Drive.

It appears that a male motorcyclist collided with a roadside embankment and a stone pillar. He apparently succumbed to his injuries at the scene and was subsequently pronounced dead at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
