Two Male Riders Injured in Middle Road, Southampton Collision

Around 7pm on Friday 22 April, 2022, police and other first responders were dispatched to a report of a two vehicle collision on Middle Road, Southampton, near Pompano Beach Road.
Initial reports suggest that a male was traveling east on a motorcycle when another male on an auxiliary cycle, also traveling east, attempted to overtake the motorcycle rider causing the vehicles to collide.
As a result, the motorcycle rider was left unresponsive.
Life saving efforts were commenced by an off duty police officer, who happened to come across the scene.
The motorcycle rider was revived at the scene and conveyed to King Edward Memorial Hospital for further treatment of his injuries.
The auxiliary cycle rider was also conveyed to hospital for treatment of injuries to his arm.
Traffic is being diverted through the Railway Trail using a one lane system. Traffic delays are to be expected while police process the scene.

Shortly before 2:00 p.m. today, Friday, 22nd April, 2022, police and other emergency responders were despatched to a reported serious single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle, on the South Shore Road near the public entrance to Elbow Beach, Paget.
Upon arrival officers were informed the motorcyclist, nineteen-year-old male was travelling west on the South Shore Road, when he attempted to overtake another vehicle headed in the same direction.
However, he reportedly lost control of the bike and collided with a nearby wall.
The victim was in and out of consciousness. His injuries, which included a broken arm and lacerations about the body.
He was attended to at the scene by EMTs and subsequently transported via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for further treatment to his injuries, which were not thought to be life threatening.
Traffic was diverted away from the area of the collision while the scene was being processed by Forensics Officers as well as Traffic Collision Investigators. The roadway has since been reopened.

Police Vehicle Crash in St. David's: Two Officers Involved Not Seriously Hurt

The Bermuda Police Service can confirm two of its officers were involved in a single vehicle collision near Stokes Bridge, St. David’s around 11:20 a.m. today, Wednesday 20th April, 2022.
Thankfully, neither officer was seriously hurt.
Out of an abundance of caution, both officers were transported via ambulance to King Edward Hospital for treatment to their injuries.
The vehicle was extensively damaged.
Traffic was diverted away from the area while the scene was processed by Traffic Collision Investigators.
Enquiries into this incident are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call 211 or 295-0011.
BPS Seek Public Assistance After Brazen Burglary at E.R. Aubrey Jewellers

Police are seeking the public’s assistance with the investigation into a recent burglary at a City business.
Shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Monday, 4th April 2022, two men on a motorcycle pulled up outside E.R. Aubrey’s on Queen Street, City of Hamilton.
The pillion passenger who wore a red Adidas jacket with camouflage sleeves and a silver coloured helmet, smashed the front window of the premises and removed a quantity of items which were on display.
The suspects then left the scene riding north, along Queen Street.
The rider wore a black jacket and black full faced helmet, with a dark tinted visor.
While the incident was captured on the store’s security cameras, we urge anyone with information on this matter, to please call 211, the Criminal Investigations Unit on 247-1744, Crime Stoppers on 800-8477, or share that information with a police officer you’re comfortable speaking with.
The Bermuda Police Service urges business owners, particularly within the City of Hamilton, to ensure that all access points to premises are properly secured.

Ensure that installed CCTV is working efficiently.

Reported Serious Collision at Court Street & Dundonald Street [Updated]

Around 7:50am on Tuesday 19 April 2022, police and first responders were dispatched to a report of a two vehicle collision at the junction of Court and Dundonald Street City of Hamilton.
On arrival it was ascertained that both vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on Dundonald Street, when the male driver of a company van, attempted to make a right turn onto Court Street, crossing the path of a male motorcycle rider.
The motorcyclist was transported to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment of a suspected head injury. The van driver was not reported to be injured.
Traffic is being diverted at Court and Victoria Street and Court and Elliott Street junctions while the scene is being processed. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact Constable Tashun Simons on 211 or tsimons2@bps.bm.
Update: Wednesday, 20th April - Thankfully, the motorcyclist hurt in a collision with a van Tuesday morning (19th April 2022) at the junction of Court Street and Dundonald Street in the City of Hamilton – understood to be a 26-year-old Pembroke man – has since been treated and discharged from hospital. The van driver was not injured. Inquiries regarding this collision continue and any witnesses are once again encouraged to call Constable Tashun Simons on 211 or e-mail tsimons2@bps.bm.
BPS Thanks Public After No Major Incidents Reported at Easter Events

Commissioner of Police Darrin Simons – “In keeping with the Easter holiday, observed this past weekend, there were several celebratory events put on across the island.
We are happy to report there were no major incidents reported at any of these events.
Our officers attended several of these functions and engaged with members of the community, many of whom expressed their support and encouragement for our efforts.

Fourth Road Fatality for 2022: 29-Year-Old Jason A. Lee

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can now confirm the death of 29-year-old Jason A. Lee, Bermuda’s fourth road fatality for 2022, and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Mr. Lee was injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a truck and a wall on North Shore Road, Hamilton parish near Radnor Road around 3:30pm Tuesday, 12th April 2022.
The 29-year-old was transported via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where while receiving treatment for what were determined to be life threatening injuries, Mr. Lee succumbed to those injuries in the Intensive Care Unit later Tuesday evening (12th April).
A BPS Family Liaison Officer continues to provide support to loved ones of the deceased at this time.

Advisory: Success Factory Suspected Pyramid Scheme

The Bermuda Police Service, (BPS), has received reports of a suspected pyramid scheme under the name “Success Factory”, operating on the island.
How the Scheme Works:
Investors are asked to join one of four levels of membership;
- Basic (125 Euro)
- Standard (250 Euro)
- Super (500 Euro)
- Ultra (1,000 Euro)
Members are recruited by invitation only and once accepted, they are encouraged to recruit others.
The scheme also promotes the sale of so called “success products” to others. For each “success product” sold, the client receives 10% of the value of the sale.
Larger sales, mean an increased level status, which comes with rewards, such as free event tickets.
The operators of “Success Factory” also heavily encourage members to invest in ‘DagCoin’, a junk crypto currency.
However, members are reportedly unable to redeem their currencies for up to three years.
Detective Superintendent, Nicholas Pedro of the Serious Crime Unit warned, “This scheme bears many of the hallmarks of a pyramid scheme including, emphasis on recruiting, there is no genuine product or service being sold and there is a complex commission structure.
We urge you to avoid putting any money into Success Factory, you might think it’s worth something, but there is no supporting evidence to show that it does. From all appearances the only way to make money in this venture is to recruit people.”

Arrest Made in Connection With Murder of Laje Franklin

The Bermuda Police Service can confirm an individual has been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the murder of Laje Franklin.
The subject remains in police custody at this time.
Detective Chief Inspector Peter Stableford said, “We appeal to members of the public who may have seen a group of motor bikes leaving St. George around 11:00 pm on Tuesday 5th April 2022, to please get in contact with us.”

Meanwhile, the two men arrested in relation to the murder of Che Jennings, have been released on police bail.
Acting Superintendent Laws Completes Multi-Agency Gold Incident Command Workshop

As the Bermuda Police Service seeks to ensure continued best practice throughout its ranks, Acting Superintendent, Jerome Laws, recently attended a Multi-Agency Gold Incident Command, (MAGIC), workshop in Miami, Florida, USA.
The training, conducted between March 28th – 31st 2022, was facilitated by the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office for the British Overseas Territories of Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Monserrat, and Turks and Caicos.
The MAGIC training aims were to develop delegates' confidence, understanding and ability to perform the role of Gold Commander by planning, implementing and reviewing a multi-agency strategy to ensure the timely resolution of a major incident or civil emergency.
The training provided a legislative and practical framework for strategic level command in emergencies and major incidents, where a multi-agency response is required.
