Motorcyclist Hurt in Collision on Middle Road, Southampton

Just before 2:30 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025, police and first responders were called to the scene of a serious two-vehicle collision east of Seymour Farm Road in Southampton.
Reports indicate that a man driving a car exited a private driveway and collided with a motorcyclist traveling in the westbound lane. The motorcyclist is believed to have sustained potentially serious injuries and has been taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. The car driver reportedly did not suffer any injuries.
Traffic diversions are in effect at the junction of South Road and Middle Road (also known as Barnes Corner) and at the Middle Road/St. Anne’s Road junction.
Motorists should anticipate delays as police investigate the scene.

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is aware of several video clips circulating on social media, depicting children engaged in physical altercations at different locations.
In some of the video clips, those involved are dressed in school uniform.
In another, those involved are dressed in plain clothes, at a private residence.
We are actively investigating these incidents and urge anyone with information to come forward and assist us.
We encourage you not to forward these images on should you receive them and instead, delete them from your devices.
The safety and well-being of our young people are of utmost importance, and we need the community’s support to prevent further incidents.

Assault Witness Appeal

Around 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Police Officers attended a disturbance involving two juvenile males at the Traffic Control Department compound, North Street, Pembroke.
Upon arrival officers were informed that members of the public intervened to de-escalate the situation.
Officers conducted inquiries and subsequently arrested the suspects for possession of bladed articles and affray.

Two Riders Hurt in Three Vehicle Smith’s Parish Collision Monday

Inquiries continue regarding a reported three vehicle collision in Smith’s parish, involving a car and two motorcycles that occurred around 6:50pm Monday, 17th March 2025.
It now appears that the car was being driven out of Zuill’s Park Road when the first motorcycle, being ridden in the eastbound lane of South Road, collided with the car.
Apparently the second motorcycle, also being ridden in the eastbound lane of South Road behind the first motorcycle, came into contact with the car as well, despite efforts to avoid a collision.
The rider of the first motorcycle, said to be a 44-year-old Sandys parish man, is believed to have sustained more serious injuries than the rider of the second motorcycle, said to be a 31-year-old Smith’s parish man, who was also hurt.
It is understood that the older man remains hospitalised.
The car driver, said to be a 50-year-old Smith’s parish woman, was not hurt.
All three vehicles were damaged. Traffic diversions at St. Mark’s Road and Knapton Hill were in effect for almost three hours, while the collision scene was processed.

Officer Dismissal

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can confirm that a Police Constable has been dismissed, following a disciplinary process.
The officer’s actions amounted to gross misconduct and his breaches of the Standards of Professional Behaviour were incompatible with continued service in the BPS.
Police Commissioner Darrin Simons, stated, “Our ability to police effectively relies on the public’s trust and confidence. If we lose that trust, we compromise our ability to serve our community. Upholding the highest standards of professional conduct is essential to maintaining this trust.”
“Notwithstanding this occurrence, I am confident in our ability to move forward with professionalism and dedication.”
Having regard for privacy matters, no further comment will be provided.
Reported Disturbance at Hamilton Parish Workmen's Club

Around 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2025, police received reports of a disturbance at the Hamilton Parish Workmen’s Club.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that a male had been injured when he was attacked by a group of individuals wearing face masks and helmets with dark tinted visors.
The injured male was reportedly transported by private vehicle to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
Checks at the hospital confirmed the victim was alert and receiving treatment for a head injury.
An investigation into this matter is now underway and anyone who may have witnessed or, who has any information about the incident is asked to call the main police number, 295-0011.

Update: Police Presence in Warwick [Situation Resolved Without Incident]

Police are currently dealing with a situation in the area of Khyber Pass, Spice Hill Road Warwick.
As a result, the length of Khyber Pass between Middle Road and Spice Hill Road, has been temporarily closed.
There have been no injuries reported at this time.
We would like to thank the public for their patience, as we work to resolve this matter.
Update: The situation which was being dealt with by police in the area of Khyber Pass, Spice Hill Road, Warwick, has been resolved without incident.
The length of Khyber Pass between Middle Road and Spice Hill Road which was closed off while this matter was dealt with, has now been reopened to regular traffic flow.

Parish Officers Redeployment

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) wishes to inform the public that commencing Monday, March 10th 2025, a number of Parish Officers will be re-deployed to general patrol duties.
This re-deployment will last until Saturday, May 17th, 2025 and is part of continued efforts to make Bermuda safer whilst other officers are involved in training.
This means there will be limited access to your Parish Officers during this period.
The BPS apologises for any inconvenience this temporary change may cause, as we recognize the value that Parish Officers bring to our community.

Attempted Theft Suspect Arrested

Around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, police received a report of an attempted theft near the junction of the Railway Trail and South Road, Paget.
Details are that a member of the public who had advertised an item for sale on social media met a prospective purchaser, an 18-year-old male, at an agreed location to carry out the transaction.
However, during the exchange, the 18-year-old attempted to snatch the electronic item being sold. A struggle ensued between the two which resulted in the teen leaving the area empty handed on a motorcycle east along South Road.
An eyewitness provided officers with a description of the suspect and the motorcycle involved.
Following investigations, the suspect was located in the parking lot of a business near Collector’s Hill Smith’s. He was approached by officers who informed him he was being detained on suspicion of theft.
During the arrest, the suspect resisted, and a brief struggle ensued. As a result, he was further detained for assault on police.
He was subsequently arrested and taken to the Hamilton Police Station. The suspect has since appeared in Magistrates’ Court and a trial date set.
Police believe this arrest may assist with their ongoing investigations into a recent spate of incidents in which individuals selling items advertised on social media, had the items stolen when meeting “buyers”.
The BPS urges members of the public to continue being vigilant when conducting these types of sales transactions.
