Inquiries Continue After Southampton Collision Tuesday Morning [Updated]

Inquiries continue regarding a collision that occurred around 7am Tuesday, 12th March 2024 on Middle Road in Southampton, near the junction with Granaway Lane.

Details remain limited at this time. However, it appears that a truck collided with the rear of a trailer, which was being towed by another truck.

Apparently one male was hurt and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of a leg injury.

An update on his medical condition is anticipated in due course.

Traffic was reduced to one lane for approximately one and a half hours, with delays for morning commuters in the area, until the damaged vehicles could be cleared from the scene.

Any witnesses are encouraged to call 211.

Update: Wednesday, 13th March - It now appears that a collision reported around 7am Tuesday, 12th March 2024 on Middle Road in Southampton, near the junction with Granaway Lane, occurred when a light truck driven in the westbound lane collided with the rear of a trailer attached to a heavy truck, which had stopped in the westbound lane.

Police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service as well as ambulance personnel responded.

At the time, the heavy truck and trailer were stationary while a small crane was unloaded into the nearby bus layby.

The passenger of the light truck, said to be a 44-year-old male guest worker, was temporarily trapped in that vehicle before being extricated by firefighters.

It is understood that after transport to hospital via ambulance, he received treatment for injuries to his legs and was later discharged.

No one else was hurt in the collision.
