Wellington Slip Road Closure for Cup Match 2023

On Thursday, August 3rd and Friday, August 4th, the two days of Cup Match, there will be a heightened police presence outside Wellington Oval grounds, St. George’s.

Officers will be deployed to patrol Wellington Slip Road, to deter vehicles parking in contravention of the Traffic Notice issued by the Ministry of Public Works, advising the closure of the roadway between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on both days of Cup Match.

To keep Wellington Slip Road free for emergency vehicles and to account for expected large crowds, it will be necessary to restrict vehicular traffic on this thoroughfare starting at 9:00 a.m. on both days of Cup Match.

To accommodate residents of the surrounding neighbourhood, the Bermuda Police Service will have a list of vehicles registered to houses in the area. Residents will be permitted access during the road closure.

T.S. Marine is providing spectator parking at their boat yard on Wellington Slip Road. Individuals availing themselves of this facility, will be required to show proof of having pre-paid, before they are allowed access.

Boat owners and operators whose vessels are kept at T.S. Marine or moored nearby, are reminded they will not be allowed on to Wellington Slip Road once the roadway is closed at 9:00 a.m. on both days of Cup Match, Thursday, August 3rd and Friday, August 4th.

All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
