Multiple Vehicles Involved in Serious South Road, Southampton Collision [Updated]

Around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, 29th January, 2023, police received several 911 calls reporting a serious multiple vehicle collision on South Shore Road, Southampton, just east of the Henry the VIII restaurant.

Upon arrival, officers observed three motorcycles and a motorcar were involved.

Details are limited, but it appears a male motorcycle rider attempted to overtake a motorcar headed east on South Shore Road, when he collided with two bikes travelling in the opposite direction.

The male motorcyclist who attempted to overtake the motorcar is described as a heavyset, dark skinned male, sustained serious injuries in the collision.

He was unresponsive and was transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

One of the other motorcycle riders, also a male, suffered minor injuries.

It remains unknown whether the third motorcyclist also believed to be a male was injured, as they were driven away from the scene by someone on another bike not thought to have been involved in the collision.

The female motorcar driver did not sustain any injuries.

Traffic was diverted at the junction of Lighthouse Road and at Southampton Princess while Collision Investigators processed the scene.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the main police number, 295-0011 or, the non-emergency reporting number, 211.
