Renewed Appeal Regarding Armed Robbery of Food Delivery Worker

Detective Inspector Derek Berry (Criminal Investigation Department) – At around 8:30pm on Wednesday 8th January, police officers responded to a call at the junction of West Side Road and Church Valley Lane in Sandys, of an attack on a 40-year-old male from Sandys Parish.

Police were told the victim was assaulted and robbed by two other males – one armed with a machete and one with a knife.

The victim suffered a gash to his neck and another to his forearm, which was also broken as a result of this horrendous attack.

The suspects then escaped – one on foot and the other on a motorcycle.

The Bermuda Police Service is now renewing its appeal for anyone with information on this violent crime to please come forward and provide us with that information, as we work to further our investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Crime of any kind is of concern to all of us, but the use of weapons and the level of violence apparently used in this robbery is particularly troubling. Especially since all indications are that the attack was unprovoked and occurred whilst the victim was going about his normal course of business as a food delivery worker.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the main police line on 295-0011 or alternatively provide the information anonymously via the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline, that number being 800-8477.

All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
