28 year old Jaron Roberts appeared in Magistrates’ Court today, charged with assaulting off duty Constable Stephen Cosham, the National Disaster Coordinator.

Following the incident which occurred at Clearwater Beach car park on the afternoon of Monday 4th November, 2019, officers launched a search for the suspects and quickly identified Roberts as one of the perpetrators. He was arrested, and following the presentation of the evidence to the DPP, charges were approved. The second suspect remains outstanding.

Roberts is accused of assaulting the officer and threatening injury to both him and his wife, with one count of Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm in an Increased Penalty Zone, and two charges of Intimidation.
