Sudden Death of 74 Year Old Woman in Smith's Parish [Updated]

Sadly, an unresponsive 74 year old woman rushed from the scene of a Verdmont Valley Drive, Smith’s parish house fire via ambulance earlier this evening (January 10th) was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

No further information regarding the deceased will be provided at this time, pending notification of next of kin.

An investigation regarding the circumstances of this sudden death as well as the cause of the fire is underway by the Bermuda Police Service and the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service.

Update: Friday, January 11th - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 74 year old Mrs. Cheryl Eve and extends sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Mrs. Eve was found in an unresponsive state at home by a family member around 5:05pm Thursday, January 10th following a fire in her Verdmont Valley Drive, Smith’s parish apartment.

Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene and as Mrs. Eve was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, sadly she was later pronounced dead.

The scene has been processed by the relevant police personnel and inquiries continue regarding the cause of Mrs. Eve’s death as well as the cause of the fire.

However, foul play is not suspected.


All incidents are under investigation.
