Police Vehicle Crash in Devonshire [Updated]

Around 4:30pm today (June 20th) police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle crash in the Middle Road, Upland Street Devonshire area.

Details are limited at this time. However, initial information indicates that a police van struck a pillar.

Apparently the driver of the police vehicle was hurt, but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

An update on the officer’s medical condition is anticipated in due course.

Traffic diversions are currently in effect while the crash scene is processed and motorists in the area are advised to take alternate routes until further notice.

Inquiries are underway and any witnesses are asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.

Update: Traffic diversions are no longer in effect in the Middle Road, Upland Street Devonshire area. The officer involved in the crash is currently being medically assessed at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, but was said to be conscious and alert. Inquiries continue.

Update #2: The officer involved in this afternoon’s police van crash in the Middle Road, Upland Street Devonshire area has been discharged from the hospital. Any witnesses that have not already come forward are encouraged to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.


All incidents are under investigation.
