Reported Serious Collision in Smith's Parish [Updated]

Police and first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place on Harrington Sound Road in the area of Sommersall Road in Smith's at 1:57pm today (Tuesday).

It appears that a female on an auxiliary cycle was traveling west on Harrington Sound Road when she collided with a SAL tractor-trailer traveling in the opposite direction.

The female was taken via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries.

The road has been cordoned off and traffic is being diverted away from the area while the scene is being processed by the relevant officers.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the collision to contact police on 295-0011.

Update: 3:45pm - Traffic diversions no longer in effect in the Harrington Sound Road, Sommersall Road Smith's parish area. Witnesses to this collision are asked to contact 295-0011 as inquiries continue.

Update: Wednesday, April 25th - At last check this morning (April 25th) the female auxiliary (50cc) cycle rider injured in a collision with a tractor-trailer truck on Harrington Sound Road in the area of Sommersall Road, Smith's parish around 2pm Tuesday, April 24th – believed to be an 18 year old Hamilton parish woman – was recovering in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital. Inquiries continue and any witnesses are asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.


All incidents are under investigation.
