Reported Serious Collision: North Shore Road, Devonshire [Updated]

Police and first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place on North Shore Road just east of Barkers Hill at around 5:30pm today. It appears that a rider of a motorcycle and a car collided resulting in a male motorcycle rider being trapped underneath the car.

The man was eventually extricated from the vehicle by Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service. He was then taken via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he is being treated for serious head injuries.

Traffic has been diverted in the area and the relevant police officers are processing the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact 295-0011.

7:30pm Update: The rider injured in the collision is in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

9:30pm Update: Please note that traffic diversions at Barkers Hill and Store Hill on North Shore Road are no longer in effect. The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the motoring public for their patience ‎while the collision scene was processed. Inquiries continue.

Update: Wednesday, February 28th - At last check this morning (February 28th) the motorcyclist injured after colliding with two cars on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with Barkers Hill Tuesday afternoon – believed to be a 65 year old Devonshire man – was said to be recovering in stable condition at the hospital.

He was initially admitted to the Intensive Care Unit in stable condition.

There were no other injuries reported. However, all three vehicles involved were damaged.

It now appears that the collision occurred as the 65 year old motorcyclist was traveling west and the two cars were being driven in the opposite direction along North Shore Road around 5:30pm Tuesday, February 27th.

Inquiries continue and any witnesses are still encouraged to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.


All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
