Second Road Fatality of 2017: Rochelle Butterfield

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 47 year old Rochelle Butterfield and extends condolences to her family and friends.

It has since been confirmed that Mrs. Butterfield was the pillion passenger on a motorcycle ridden by her 51 year old husband in a westerly direction (not east as initially reported) when they went off the road along Kindley Field Road, St. George's in the vicinity of Stone Crusher Corner around 1:30am Wednesday, March 1st.

Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene which continued as she was transported via ambulance to hospital and on arrival, Mrs. Butterfield was pronounced dead at 2:25am.

Her husband was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and is expected to be released on police bail later today pending further inquiries.

A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist Mrs. Butterfield’s family at this difficult time.

An autopsy is anticipated and the investigation into the second road fatality of 2017 continues.

Any witnesses or persons familiar with the whereabouts of Mrs. Butterfield in the hours prior to 1:30am Wednesday should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.
