Murder of 19 Year Old Isaiah Furbert

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Mark Clarke - Police can now confirm the death of 19 year old Isaiah Furbert who died as a result of a firearm incident that took place at 10pm Tuesday on Upland Street in Devonshire.

Details of the incident are very unclear but Mr. Furbert was shot at a residence on Upland Street and was subsequently taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:24 pm.

On behalf of the Bermuda Police Service we would first like to send our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Isaiah.

This is yet another senseless murder of a young man who was just entering the prime of his life.

An active investigation into this incident has now commenced and I (Detective Inspector Mark Clarke) will be heading up the investigation with Detective Sergeant Kenten Trott.

Already the Serious Crime Unit is following specific lines of inquiry and we are encouraged by the information that has been coming in.

We are, however, still looking to talk with anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Upland Street area between 6 pm and 10 pm, specifically around the Watlington Road East Devonshire area near Mr. Chicken.

We are looking to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice and bring some measure of closure to the family.

Any information that you may have no matter how insignificant it may seem to you may just be the valuable piece of information the investigation needs.

Persons with information should contact myself and or DS Kenten Trott at the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or alternatively you can call the anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline number on 800-8477.

All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
