Arrests Made After Drug Seizure in Deepdale Road, Pembroke Area

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police James Howard - Good afternoon members of the media.

Early this morning (Thursday, 25th September 2014), the Bermuda Police Service conducted multiple search warrants issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act around the Deepdale Road East, Pembroke area. This resulted in the arrest of four adult males, one juvenile male and one female.

During the searches a quantity of substances suspected to be controlled drugs were found along with drug paraphernalia.

Investigations are continuing and the arrested persons are expected to be brought before the courts in the near future.

The Bermuda Police Service would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience the residents of the Deepdale Road East area experienced during this morning’s police activity.

In addition, residents may have noticed Community Action Team pamphlets in their mailboxes afterwards. The Central Community Action Team is committed to working with the residents of Deepdale Road East to improve their neighbourhood.

One of the initiatives Community Action Team officers will immediately focus on is several areas of graffiti on the neighbourhood’s surrounding concrete walls.

They plan to collaborate with external community partners as well as residents to remove the graffiti, in order to enhance the physical environment of the Deepdale Road East area.

Moreover in future, Community Action Team officers intend to liaise with area residents whenever similar police activity is taking place in the various neighbourhoods around the island.

All incidents are under investigation.
