Recruit Foundation Course #75 Passing Out Parade

At 6pm on Thursday, July 25th 2013 the Passing Out Parade for Recruit Foundation Course #75 took place at Police Headquarters in Prospect, Devonshire. [Pictured right, click photo to enlarge]. In attendance at the ceremony were several dignitaries including:

  • His Excellency the Governor – Mr. George Fergusson
  • Minister of Public Safety – The Hon. Michael Dunkley JP MP
  • Commissioner of Police – Mr. Michael DeSilva
  • Commanding Officer of the Bermuda Regiment – Lt. Col. Michael Foster-Brown
  • Junior Minister of Public Safety & Legal Affairs, Senator Jeff Baron
  • Shadow Minister of Public Safety, Mr. Michael Scott JP MP
  • Acting Chief Fire Officer, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service – Mr. Dana Lovell
  • Acting Deputy Chief Fire Officer – Mr. Morris White
  • Collector of Customs – Mrs. Lucinda Pearman
  • Acting Commissioner of Corrections – Ms. Keeva-Mae Joell-Benjamin
  • National Drug Commission Chief Executive Officer – Ms. Joanne Dean
  • Bishop the Reverend Dr. Lloyd Duncan

Fifteen officers were on parade, led by Parade Commander Inspector Emmerson Carrington. The Drill Instructor was Constable Derrick Golding. The newest members of the Bermuda Police Service are:

There were several awards presented during the ceremony. The awards and recipients were:

Athletic Awards - The Instructors Cup is an award that is given to the fastest officer over the International 10 kilometre or 6 mile Flatts road running course.

  • The Instructors Cup was presented to PC Monique Stevens for the fastest time of 1 hour, 2 minutes and 51 seconds in the female category.
  • The Instructors Cup was presented to PC Dominique Simons for the fastest time of 46 minutes and 33 seconds in the male category.

All Round Athlete & Physical Fitness Awards

  • PC Monique Stevens (female).
  • PC Dominique Simons (male).

Deputy Commissioner’s Cup – This award is for the best effort on the course and the officer who has made the most significant progress.

  • Awarded to PC Christopher Douglas.

Academic Award – Awarded to PC Nicole Outerbridge who achieved an overall test average of 93%.

Commissioner’s Shield – Awarded to Red Syndicate led by Inspector Emmerson Carrington; consisting of PC Donna DeSilva, PC Llewellyn Simons, PC Nicole Outerbridge, PC Aaron Dyer and PC Jason Savoury.

The award was collected by PC Donna DeSilva.

Baton of Honour – Awarded to PC Dominique Simons who was selected as the most distinguished student officer by the Training Centre staff. [Pictured left, click photo to enlarge].

On behalf of the Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva, the men & women of the Bermuda Police Service would like to congratulate and welcome these fifteen new officers into the Bermuda Police Service family.
