Around 12:45am on Thursday, 6th December 2012, police and first responders attended a reported medical emergency outside Woody’s Bar & Restaurant in Sandys parish. On arrival officers observed an unresponsive male on the premises. The victim, a 29 year old Pembroke man, was treated at the scene by EMTs and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of apparent head injuries. He was initially admitted to the Intensive Care Unit; however the victim is currently hospitalised abroad receiving specialised care for serious head injuries. His injuries are not as a result of a shooting.
After further enquiries into this incident, it has been revealed that the victim was in fact assaulted. Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit are now investigating this matter and are particularly interested in speaking with those persons who would have been in the car park outside of Woody's around 12:10am Thursday, or anyone with any information on the circumstances regarding this brutal assault. Anyone who can assist is urged to contact 247-1739 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477 at the earliest opportunity. |
