An extensive investigation involving the Department of Homeland Security and the Bermuda Police Service resulted in the arrest of two Bermudian men who were engaged in smuggling illegal drugs to Bermuda from the State of New Jersey, USA. This combined law enforcement effort enabled officers to identify and disrupt an organized crime network which prevented dangerous drugs from reaching our community.
This operation is evidence of the Bermuda Police Service’s and our partner agencies commitment to combat the trafficking of illegal drugs into Bermuda. Investigations into this seizure continue and the Bermuda Police Service encourages members of the public to report their suspicions or knowledge of illegal activity either directly to the police or confidentially via Crime Stoppers on 800-8477.
It should be noted that the investigation involving overseas activity is a complex and time consuming operation. Now that arrests have been made and court appearances are anticipated, the Bermuda Police Service is not able to make any further comment at this time. |
