At 2:35pm on Saturday, July 14th the 10 strong police team reached the 750,000 metre mark, three quarters of the way to completing the Million Metre Row Challenge at Sandys 360 Sports, Aquatic & Enrichment Centre! The team, made up of Sergeant Derek Berry, Sergeant Kevin Christopher, Detective Constable Sylvester Augustine, Constable Cerepha Bridgeman, Constable Michael Charlton, Detective Constable Tim Harvey, Teena Tyrrell, Constable Latoyia Brunson, Station Duty Officer Vernagine Symonds and Constable Tiffani DeSilva having been rowing continuously since 3pm on Wednesday, July 11th 2012. Tracking their progress so far:
- Saturday, July 14, 2012 12:48 PM - rowed 730,000 metres (453 miles)
- Saturday, July 14, 2012 04:53 AM – rowed over 640,000 metres (398 miles)
- Friday, July 13, 2012 6:35 PM - rowed 535,000 metres (332 miles)
- Friday, July 13, 2012 11:00 AM - rowed 455,000 metres (283 miles)
- Friday, July 13, 2012 7:50 AM – rowed 422,000 metres (262 miles)
- Thursday, July 12, 2012 5:32 PM - rowed 278,000 metres (173 miles)
Their goal is to row 1,000,000 metres (621.371 miles) to help raise funds for the Sandys 360 Youth Development Fund - and they are still anticipating a Sunday afternoon (July 15th 2012) finish.
