15 new Bermuda Police Service recruits are currently undergoing an intensive 12 week training course in preparation to become police officers. Recruit Foundation Course #74 commenced on Monday May 7th, 2012 with the recruits being sworn in as Police Constables on Thursday May 10th, 2012. They are now on their second week of the 12 week programme [click photo to enlarge].
Of the 15 recruits, there are five women and ten men who range in age from 22 – 45 years old. There are 13 Bermudians and two spouses of Bermudians (a Trinidadian and a Canadian).

As four of these recruits recently graduated from the Police Cadet Programme, Inspector Charlene Thompson Officer in Charge of Training, Recruiting and Development says she has no doubt that she will see all 15 recruits remain at the end of the course. “It’s a life-changing experience,” she said. “They’ve all come with the will and determination to succeed.” |
