Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the reported gunshots that occurred around 2:45am Friday 6th April 2012 at Somerset Cricket Club in Sandys parish. Initial information suggested one man was injured as a result. It was later confirmed that two men, a 41 year old and an 18 year old were injured; however both received minor wounds. It is not clear at this time if their injuries were as a result of the reported gunshots; and this remains a focal point of the investigation. Both men were treated at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and discharged.
The scene has been forensically examined and items have been seized for processing. A 39 year old man was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident and bailed pending further inquiries.
There were many people at the venue at the time of the incident, and detectives are very interested in speaking with anyone who was at the function before, during, or after the incident. This appeal is also extended to anyone with any information regarding this matter - and you are encouraged to contact the Serious Crime Unit at 247-1739, or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477. |
