Assistant Commissioner of Police David Mirfield – At 9pm on Sunday, January 8th police were called to an address on The Glebe Road in Pembroke following reports of gunshots. On arrival it was clear that a firearm incident had taken place. Subsequently two males, both aged 24, were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds.
Sadly one of those males has succumbed to his injuries and died at hospital. The other victim’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening. This is now a murder investigation. The full police forensic team is on the scene and this road will be blocked for some time whilst officers conduct their enquiries.
Our condolences go out to the family. This is an extremely sad way to start 2012. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477. |
