Eighth Road Fatality For 2011

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 41 year old Alexander Monk of Hamilton parish. Around 7:15am on Thursday November 24th, Mr. Monk was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a bus on Middle Road in Southampton in the vicinity of Five Star Island. Mr. Monk sustained head injuries and was transported via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead by an on call physician.

The Bermuda Police Service extends condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Monk. Inquiries are ongoing. Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses, in particular the rider of a second motorcycle believed to be in the area around the time of the collision, to contact PC Bianca Glasford at the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.

The death of Alexander Monk marks the eighth road fatality for 2011.


All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
