Around 9pm on Friday, October 14th police responded to a reported domestic incident at a St. Mary’s Road, Warwick residence. While at the scene, officers became aware that an outstanding warrant was in effect for one of the individuals involved, a 27 year old Warwick man. When the officers informed the Warwick man of the outstanding warrant and placed him under arrest, he fled on foot.
The escapee was later seen in the vicinity getting into a silver car which accelerated away. A police officer was standing in the path of the vehicle and despite jumping out of the way, was struck and injured as the car left the area. The officer was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of an arm injury and at last check was recovering on a general ward.
As a result, a search warrant was conducted at a Spice Berry Lane, Warwick residence around 7:45am Saturday, October 15th. The suspect was located in the home and arrested. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
Police are interested in speaking with anyone who may know the whereabouts of the vehicle used in the escape attempt, believed to be a silver Subaru J10.
