Despite inclement weather that cancelled the police dynamic displays, the Bermuda Police Service held a Seniors Tea at 12 noon on Tuesday, October 4th as part of the Police Week 2011 celebrations. The event recognizing the island’s senior citizens was well attended and those gathered were served by police staff while enjoying food, music by Mr. Gene Steede and his band, as well as prizes won by correctly answering trivia questions from Station Duty Officer Linda Mienzer.
Detective Sergeant Tirena Rollins of the Crime Prevention Unit gave the mature audience a presentation on how to decrease their chances of becoming a victim of crime by securing their homes better and being vigilant for any suspicious individuals or activity in their neighbourhoods.
In addition, the Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva, Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Wright, Superintendent Antoine Daniels and Superintendent James Howard took time out of their busy schedules to spend time meeting and talking with the visiting seniors. |
