Detective Superintendent Antoine Daniels - At 3:50am on Sunday morning, Police officers responded to a report of a man having been shot and injured near a residence on Overview Hill in Pembroke Parish.
Police responded immediately to this firearms report and on arrival at the scene discovered 22 year old Jason Smith of Warwick Parish who had sustained a number of what appeared to be gunshot wounds to his body. First aid was administered and he was conveyed to hospital by ambulance where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Members of the Bermuda Police Service express sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Mr. Jason Smith who tragically lost his life at the young age of 22.
Police officers from the Bermuda Police Service Serious Crime Unit under the direction of Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro immediately commenced investigations into this murder pursuing a number of lines of enquiry.
The scene has been forensically examined by officers from the Bermuda Police Service Forensic Support Unit. A forensic pathologist is currently on island and will conduct an examination of the deceased’s body.
Police are interested in speaking with anyone that may have seen a black male about 5'4" tall of stocky build wearing a black hooded top particularly in the area of Overview Hill, Pembroke and surrounding neighborhood, or anyone that knows anything related to this crime to contact detectives at the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011, or the confidential Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-8477 (TIPS). |
