Around 1:15am today, Police attended a serious road traffic collision on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the Mid Atlantic Boat Club involving a car and a pedestrian. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear; however, it appears that the male pedestrian was walking along North Shore Road when he was struck by the car, which was traveling west on North Shore Road. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was rushed to KEMH via ambulance but subsequently succumbed to those injuries. No further information will be released until the next of kin has been notified; however the identity of the male pedestrian is unknown at this time. He is described as a dark skinned man of stocky build, approximately 30 – 50 years old, wearing a black hooded jacket, beige/khaki pants and new black & white Adidas sneakers. He may frequent the area. The driver of the car, a 27 year old Hamilton parish man, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving/causing death by dangerous driving.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information on the identity of the victim to contact Police on 295-0011.
