Shooting in Somerset

Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro, Serious Crime Unit - Approximately 1:15am on Wednesday 3rd February, 2010 Police Officers responded to a report of gun shots in the Scotts Hill area of Somerset. It was ascertained that a 24 year old male from the Somerset area was travelling on a motorcycle on Scotts Hill Road, Sandys parish when two males on a motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction shot at him. The victim sustained an injury to his right hand. He was treated at King Edward Memorial Hospital and later released. His injury is not considered serious.

Officers immediately set up vehicle check points and put legislated stop and search powers into effect in the search for the perpetrators. Information has already been provided by some members of the community, and detectives from the Serious Crime Unit are anxious to speak with anyone that may have heard, seen, or know anything about this incident.

The matter is being investigated by detectives from the Serious Crime Unit.
