A 28 year old Pembroke man was one of the men arrested in connection with the shooting outside Southside Cinema on Friday, November 13th 2009. He was subsequently released on Police bail. This simply means that at this stage the 28 year old Pembroke man has not been charged with any crime. When an individual is released on Police bail, there are no restrictions on their ability to travel overseas; however they are bound to reappear at a Police Station on a specified date. Travel restrictions can only be made by a judge/magistrate once a suspect has been placed before the court and charged with an offence.
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the shooting, which occurred around 11:30pm on Friday November 13th outside Southside Cinema, injuring a 26 year old Pembroke man and a 24 year old Warwick woman. Over 100 people were in the area at the time of the shooting. Formal statements from witnesses along with forensic evidence are critical to identifying those responsible for this heinous act (or any crime) and placing them before the court where they can face the consequences of their actions.
