Police Week 2009 - Commissioner for a Day

The Bermuda Police Service welcomed the six winners of the Police Week 2009 poster competition to Police Headquarters in Prospect today for a day of Police related activities, giving them an idea of what it would be like to be Commissioner of Police for a day. After approximately 100 entries from the island’s primary & middle schools, the six students were selected by a committee based on their age appropriate artwork on the theme ‘Police helping our Community.’

The day started at 9:30am when the six Commissioners for the day met with Commissioner of Police George Jackson, Deputy Commissioner Michael DeSilva, Assistant Commissioner Mike Jackman and Assistant Commissioner Paul Wright in the Bermuda Police Service boardroom at Police Headquarters. There, formal introductions took place followed by a photo with the Commissioner and his senior officers along with the students and their prize winning artwork.

The winning students are:

Calvina Steede - Harrington Sound Primary

Levi Musson-Sheeheed - Harrington Sound Primary

Al-Shae Landy - Northlands Primary

Marley Jabbar - Purvis Primary

Jade Robinson - Bermuda Institute

Krislyn Lambert - Bermuda Institute

Their tour included the following Police departments/units:

The six Commissioners for the Day also had lunch at the Police Recreation Club with Commissioner Jackson and his senior officers. Then, before leaving at 3pm, all were presented with certificates for their outstanding depictions of ‘Police helping our Community.’
