Industrial Accident

At 8:55am today, Police received a report of an industrial accident at a construction site in the Green Acres Road/Devon Spring Road, Devonshire area. It appears that a cement truck was reversing into the construction site when the vehicle rolled over a pit, causing the truck to overturn. The driver of the cement truck, a 31 year old St. George’s man, was apparently able to climb out of the vehicle and only sustained tenderness to his left knee. Paramedics arrived on scene shortly afterwards and assessed the St. George’s man on site. The Government Health & Safety Officer was also notified of this incident.

Witness Appeal
Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision resulting in injury involving a motorcycle and a car that occurred around 3:45pm on Monday, July 16 at the junction of Glebe Road and Parsons Road in Pembroke. Details about the collision are unclear; however, it appears that the collision occurred at the junction as the motorcycle was traveling on Parsons Road and the car was traveling on Glebe Road. Apparently the rider of the motorcycle, a 29 year old Smith’s parish man, was injured as a result and is currently receiving treatment for his injuries at KEMH. Any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information are encouraged to contact PC David Johnston at the Hamilton Police Station on 299-4538.
