Recruit Foundation Course #69 Passing Out Ceremony

On Thursday, October 4th 2007, a Passing Out Ceremony was held for Bermuda Police Service Recruit Foundation Course #69. Twelve recruits completed the course and have now joined the Service as Police officers. They are: Constable Shirneil Furbert, Constable Anton Gilbert, Constable Ian Morrell, Constable Lesa Stovell, Constable Donovan Sweet, Constable Rajiv Bailey, Constable Kieran Bennett, Constable Vanessa Furbert, Constable Juan Looby, Constable Sandip Roy, Constable Kenten Trott and Constable Teshae Trott.

Dignitaries attending the event included H. E. the Governor, Sir John Vereker; the Hon. Senator Lt. Col. David Burch, Minister of Public Safety & Housing; the Hon. Michael Scott, Acting Attorney General and Minister of Justice; Commissioner of Police George Jackson; Chief Fire Officer Vincent Hollinsid; Commanding Officer of the Bermuda Regiment Lt. Col. William White; Collector of Customs Mrs. Winifred Fostine-DeSilva and Commandant of the Bermuda Reserve Police Huw Lewis, to name but a few.

Various awards were given out during the ceremony, including:

  • The Mylod Cup (for the most improved officer and the officer that made the most significant progress during the course) – PC Sandip Roy
  • Instructors Cup (for the fastest male/female officer in the 10K run) – PC Lesa Stovell (female), PC Kieran Bennett (male)
  • Most Outstanding Athlete - PC Lesa Stovell (female), PC Kieran Bennett (male)
  • Academic Award – PC Kenten Trott (with an overall test average of 96%)
  • Commissioner’s Shield – Blue Syndicate (Constables Bailey, Bennett, V. Furbert, Looby, Roy, K. Trott & T. Trott)
  • Baton of Honour (for the best all round student officer) – PC Kenten Trott

Also every year, each RFC course raises funds for charity. This year’s recipient was the Bermuda Sunshine League, who received a cheque for $2,100 from RFC #69. The Bermuda Police Service is proud to welcome these new officers to the Police family.
