Truckers’ Protest

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) became aware of the New Bermuda General Truckers’ Association protest around 8:10 this morning when participants were reportedly driving between north & south round-a-bouts in Paget via Trimingham Road, disrupting the regular flow of traffic into the City of Hamilton. As a result, the Roads Policing Unit attended and monitored their driving habits before diverting the truckers through the City of Hamilton to Dutton Avenue, Pembroke.

A number of offences were detected and some truck drivers were reported for various traffic offences. The BPS is currently reviewing the situation to see whether or not any other offences may have been committed.

All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
