Missing Juvenile

The Bermuda Police Service is asking for the public's assistance in locating 14 year old Geisha Saltus of Devonshire. She was reported missing at 10am today and was last seen leaving Cedarbridge Academy around 3:30pm on Monday wearing casual clothes. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 14 year old Geisha Saltus is asked to contact the Juvenile & Domestic Crime Unit on 295-0011.



Witness Appeal

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to a disturbance that took place around 5:30pm Saturday, October 15, 2005 on Court Street near the junction with Angle Street in Pembroke. The victim, a 33 year old Paget man, was attacked with a machete and sustained serious lacerations to his hands, forearms and head.

At 12:35pm today, Police attended a WB's Way, Hamilton parish residence and arrested a 37 year old Pembroke man wanted in connection with a disturbance that occurred around 5:30pm Saturday on Court Street near the junction with Angle Street in Pembroke. The Pembroke man was taken into custody without incident and is expected to appear before the courts in due course.

The Bermuda Police Service has just signed a contract for the purchase of a new Police vessel, designed to head up the Marine Police fleet and replace our current ‘Blue Heron’. This is not a recent initiative, but has been the subject of many hours of research and discussion to establish a vessel to fulfill certain roles within the Police maritime area of responsibility.

Unfortunately, after many disasters there are efforts to try and steal money that was given to assist with the recovery. The Fraud Unit is aware of reports from overseas that indicate a number of bogus websites are being set up, with the aim of soliciting donations to assist with the disaster caused by Hurricane Katrina in the U.S.A. These websites are fraudulent.

Around 1:50pm today, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Devonshire in the area of Chaingate Hill. It appears that a 12 year old Warwick boy was riding a bicycle on the premises of a day care when he lost control and collided with a car traveling west on Middle Road.

Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 48 year old Louis Robert Barry of Maryland, U.S.A. was as a result of natural causes. Mr. Barry was found in an unresponsive state around 12:35pm on Thursday in a room at a Southampton guest property. The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.

Around 11:05 this morning, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Church Street near the junction with Wesley Street in the City of Hamilton, involving a car and a pedestrian. It appears that the car, a black Toyota Corolla, was turning west on to Church Street when it collided with a pedestrian on the pedestrian crossing. As a result the car sustained front end damage.

Around 12:40am on Sunday, a Police Support Unit (PSU) on mobile patrol attended Fentons Drive in Pembroke. The officers arrested an 18 year old Pembroke woman for an outstanding warrant and searched the basket of the motorcycle she was sitting on. The basket contained a sizeable quantity of what is believed to be controlled drugs, which were seized.

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of recent incidents where four wheeled vehicles were removed from garages and thefts from unattended/unlocked vehicles took place, particularly in the Addendum Lane, Pembroke area.

At 8:30 this morning, Police attended a report of a medical emergency at the junction of Court Street and Elliot Street in Pembroke. The victim, a 68 year old Pembroke man, was found at his Elliot Street residence lying in bed in an unresponsive state and was later pronounced dead at the scene by an on call physician. Foul play has not been ruled out.



AEROSOL CANS AT PUBLIC EVENTS

It has recently been brought to the attention of the Bermuda Police Service (BPS), the developing and dangerous trend of persons projecting fiery streams from various aerosol cans or other apparatus at public events, indoors and outdoors. The BPS is concerned about such practices posing a real threat to public safety.
