Update – Sudden Death on Malabar Road

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 22 year old Raymond Glenn Curtis of Sandy’s parish. At 3.48 am on Saturday Police officers responded to a report of an unresponsive male on Malabar Road, Sandy’s parish. On arrival Police found an injured and semi-conscious male lying in the street. First aid was rendered with the assistance of EMTs from the Bermuda Fire Service and KEMH. Mr. Curtis was conveyed to the King Edward Memorial Hospital where at 4.30am he was pronounced dead by an on duty doctor.



Man Found Unresponsive on Malabar Road

At 3:48 this morning Police responded to a report of an unresponsive male lying in the road (Malabar Road in Sandy's parish). EMTs transported the 22 year old Sandy's parish man to KEMH where he was pronounced dead at 4:30am. No further information will be given until next of kin has been notified and foul play has not been ruled out.



Remembering Our Colleagues Lost During Hurricane Fabian

September 5th 2008 marks the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Fabian and the loss of three of our colleagues – Constable Stephen Symons, Constable Nicole O’Connor and Station Duty Officer Gladys Saunders. The Bermuda Police Service is joining with the September 5th Foundation to recognize this anniversary and to remember our fallen colleagues. There will be a remembrance motorcycle ride and a reception at the Prospect PRC to mark the fifth anniversary on Sunday 7th September. The Ride



Alleged Firearm Incident

Around 11 this morning, Police attended a report of gun shots in the Glebe Road/St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke area. Details about the incident are unclear at this time; however, Police are appealing for any passengers of the #5 Pond Hill bus that got on or off in the Glebe Road area that may have seen two males on a motorcycle acting suspiciously to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 299-4315 or 295-0011; they can also call the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 1-800-623-8477.



The Bearded Fix-it Bandit

Police are asking the public to be on the look out for a Caucasian male sporting a full gray beard and little to no teeth. The suspect usually has a cycle close by and tries to flag down individuals asking for money to purchase gas or fix something on his bike that has malfunctioned.



Missing Juvenile

The Bermuda Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 17 year old Seanae Smith of Sandy’s parish. The teenager is described as 5’2” tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds with black hair which has a bright gold streak down the centre of it. She was last seen approximately a week ago and may be in the Dockyard area.



Shots on Princess Street

At 9:26pm on Monday night Police responded to a report of gun shots being fired in the area of Princess Street in Pembroke. Details at this point are sketchy, however a man was taken to KEMH and is being treated for non life threatening injures. PRESS RELEASE - CLUB MED IMPLOSION

On Monday 25th August 2008 the former Club Med hotel will be destroyed by implosion. On Monday 18th August 2008, work will commence to rig the former Club Med hotel building with explosives. These explosives will be placed throughout the hotel building and sealed in place by a team from Demolition Dynamics, a subsidiary of DH Griffin Wrecking Co. Inc of the USA. The explosives, once placed, will remain in the hotel throughout the week leading up to the planned implosion, scheduled for Monday 25th August 2008.





Police to Address Reports of Anti-Social Behaviour

The Bermuda Police Service has recently received reports of suspected firearm activity in the St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke area and increased violence involving young men associated with the ‘gang culture.’ In light of these reports, we wish to reassure the public that the Police are aware of these activities and that we will be responding appropriately.



Bermudian Sentenced in the US on Drug Charges

On Saturday 5th January 2008 an American registered yacht was intercepted by US Coast Guard in the waters off The Bahamas. There were two males on board the vessel at the time, a US citizen who was the owner of the yacht and a 35 year old Bermudian Norman O’Donnell Rayner of Pembroke. A search of the yacht uncovered a shipment of cannabis weighing approximately one ton (one thousand kilogrammes).



Sudden Death

At 12:04pm on Wednesday, Police responded to a report of a sudden death that took place at a residence on South Road in Paget. Police initially received information that a 61 year old man had not been seen for a few days; this with other factors caused Police to gain entry into his home where they found the body of 61 year old Harold Davis of Paget in a non responsive state.



Cup Match Press Conference

The Cup Match period is one of the busiest policing periods in Bermuda. This year Cup Match is being held at the Somerset Cricket Club. The Bermuda Police Service has prepared contingency plans to ensure that the Cup Match period is safe for all residents and visitors on the island. We are advising the public that there will be a heavy Police presence on the streets, on the water, at the game and any other major events taking place between now and Sunday 3rd August.



Drowning

Police responded to a report of a drowning that took place a few minutes after 5pm on Sunday in the waters off of Pompano Beach Resort. On arrival officers were told that there were persons on a floating raft several hundred metres out from the shore with an unresponsive male on the raft. The Police Marine Unit arrived on the scene and removed the 67 year old man (visitor from the USA) from the floating raft and transported him to Robinsons Marina Wharf, where first responders then transported the victim to KEMH via ambulance. On arrival the 67 year old man was pronounced dead at 5:58.pm.

Death of Che Hollis

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 21 year old Che Hollis of Warwick who died as a result of injuries received in a road traffic collision that took place at 11:55pm on Tuesday night. The collision took place on Cockburn Road in Sandy’s parish where it appears that a car and a cycle that Che Hollis was riding collided, resulting in the 21 year old Warwick man being rushed to KEMH where he remained in the Intensive Care Unit until he was certified dead at 4:48 pm today. 



Injury RTC

At 8:40am on Thursday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Front Street in Pembroke near the junction with King Street , involving three cars. It appears that all three vehicles (a blue Daihatsu Charade, a white Mitsubishi hatchback and a blue Honda CRV) were in a line of motorists traveling east on Front Street; however, the white Mitsubishi and the blue Honda CRV were already stationary due to traffic. The driver of the blue Daihatsu, a 24 year old St.

Update - Sudden Death of Rhiana Moore

Chief Inspector Antoine Daniels, Officer in Charge of the Serious Crime Unit Police are continuing their investigations into the sudden death of 14-year old Rhiana Moore and are pleased with the progress made thus far. Later this week a number of forensic experts will be arriving on island to provide assistance and support to investigators.
