Man Arrested After Police Pursuit

A 20 year old Sandys parish man has been arrested in connection with the earlier reported shooting incident in the Mount Hill, Overview Hill Pembroke area and the stolen motocross cycle has been recovered.
Out of an abundance of caution, schools in the Somerset area were advised to keep their students inside during the police pursuit of the stolen motorcycle, but those schools shortly returned to normal operation.

Around 10:30am on Wednesday, January 25th police responded to a report of gunshots in the Mount Hill, Pembroke area. No one was injured; however the suspects stole a blue motocross cycle from the scene and fled, heading in a westerly direction. Police pursued the suspects into the western parishes and are appealing for any witnesses, anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Mount Hill area or anyone with any information to contact the main police number 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.
Tragedy After Fishing Boat Sinks Off St. David’s Head

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the deaths of 59 year old Mustafa Abdul Hadee of Smith’s parish and 58 year old Mikal Williams of St. George’s parish.
Around 12:20am on Tuesday, January 24th police, including the Marine Unit and first responders, as well as the pilot boat St. David promptly attended a report of a boat sinking in the waters off St. David’s Head, St. George’s with two men onboard.
Vigilant Police Apprehend Suspected Burglar

Around 11am on Monday, January 23rd police were alerted to four men wearing black clothing acting suspiciously around homes in the Schools Drive, Devonshire area. Officers immediately responded to the scene and located the suspects, who attempted to flee on foot. After pursuing the alleged perpetrators through the neighbourhood, a 17 year old Pembroke man was apprehended nearby in possession of suspected stolen property. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing.

At 2:20am on Saturday 21st January, 2012, uniform officers arrested an 18 year old male from Pembroke, in Sandys Parish.
The male, Dameko Dublin, was wanted by police in connection with the recovery of an illegal firearm in Devonshire Parish in November of last year. Mr. Dublin appeared in Hamilton Magistrates Court at 10:00am today, charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (Firearm) and Possession of Ammunition.

The Commissioner of Police as well as the Commandant of the Reserve Police is pleased to announce the recent promotion of six Reserve Police officers which took place at 4:30pm Friday, January 20th at Police Headquarters in Prospect Devonshire. The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 16 year old Leshun Wolffe. The teenager was last seen on Thursday, January 19th and is described as dark skinned, approximately 5’5” tall of slim build weighing around 124 pounds. He was last seen wearing light coloured jeans, a light blue and white jersey and black sneakers. This is not the first time he has gone missing.

The Bermuda Police Service can confirm that as a result of specific information contact was made with the management of Butterfield & Vallis and working in partnership, the Drug Unit seized a quantity of controlled drug. An active investigation is underway which includes American law enforcement agencies. As this is still an open investigation, further details regarding the drug type and quantity will not be released at this time. This seizure represents a reduction in public harm, and is also another example of the significance of working together in partnership with members of the community.

The Bermuda Police Service is investigating a report of an armed robbery which occurred around 11:30pm, Monday 16th January in the area of Redkiln Road, Hamilton Parish. A taxi had just dropped off a fare when, upon leaving, the driver was set upon by four males wearing helmets with visors and brandishing knives. The suspects demanded money and searched the interior of the taxi. Stolen were a cellphone and a quantity of cash. The taxi driver was not injured.

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 17 year old Santina Harvey. The teenager was last seen on Friday, January 13th and is described as brown skinned of slim build, approximately 5’5” tall weighing around 125 pounds with shoulder length black hair and brown highlights. This is not the first time she has gone missing.
Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 17 year old Santina Harvey is encouraged to contact the Vulnerable Persons Unit on 295-0011.

Under steel gray clouds that constantly threatened to darken and explode with thunder and lightening the Bermuda Police Rugby Club held the 38th Annual George Duckett Memorial Day at a muddy and sodden Police field in Prospect Devonshire.
The day’s festival of rugby started off with the 2nd team women’s game. The BPRFC women’s section has grown from strength to strength and the fact that the section was able to field two complete sides in one day is a fine testament to the organization and dedication of the ladies committee and the coaching skills of Anthony Fellowes.

The Bermuda Police Service would like for the motoring public to bear in mind the following due to the Bermuda Track & Field Association 10K which begins on Saturday 14th January 2012 at 9am.
All vehicles will be prevented from entering the race route between the start of the 10K on Parsons Road and the junction of Verdmont Road and Middle Road.
Please note: No traffic is permitted to travel in the same direction as the runners.

She was reported missing on Friday, January 6th and apparently has been seen as recently as Monday, January 9th near West End Primary School on Scott’s Hill Road in Sandys parish.

Fatal Shooting on The Glebe Road

Assistant Commissioner of Police David Mirfield – At 9pm on Sunday, January 8th police were called to an address on The Glebe Road in Pembroke following reports of gunshots. On arrival it was clear that a firearm incident had taken place. Subsequently two males, both aged 24, were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds.
Sadly one of those males has succumbed to his injuries and died at hospital. The other victim’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening. This is now a murder investigation.
Sudden Death

Around 11am on Saturday, January 7th police responded to a report of a body found floating in the waters near the Swing Bridge in St. George's. The lifeless body of a man was subsequently located and officers including members of the Marine Unit attended, conducting inquiries at the scene. The investigation into this incident is ongoing and no further information will be released until the next of kin have been notified.
Update: Suspected Stolen Jewellery Recovered

The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their response to the media appeal regarding a large quantity of suspected stolen jewellery.
In total 137 members of the public attended the Hamilton Police Station between 10am and 2:30pm on Friday, January 6th to view the items, with additional inquiries via e-mail and phone from those who were unable to make today’s viewing.
As a result another time and date will be announced when the jewellery can be viewed by the public.
Suspected Stolen Jewellery Recovered

A large quantity of suspected stolen jewellery has been recovered after police executed a search warrant in relation to an ongoing investigation.
Detectives investigating the case are encouraging anyone who may have had jewellery stolen, particularly prior to June 15th 2011, to attend the Hamilton Police Station at 52 Victoria Street in Pembroke to view the recovered items between 10am and 2pm on Friday, January 6th 2012.
