Gunshots Reported at Somerset Cricket Club

Around 2:45am on Friday April 6th, police responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Somerset Cricket Club in Sandys. Officers arrived on scene and conducted an investigation immediately.
One man was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Sudden Death

Around 4.35pm Thursday, April 5th police received a telephone call from Bermuda Radio concerning a missing diver in the waters off of Grotto Bay Hotel. As a result, police divers and a Bermuda Police Service marine vessel attended the area to search for the missing man. He was located in the waters a short time later in an unresponsive state and was immediately given first aid while awaiting the arrival of an ambulance. He was conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6.35pm. Police are not treating this incident as suspicious. No further information will be released until the next of kin has been notified.
Four Arrested in Connection With Aggravated Burglary

Superintendent Antoine Daniels - Police are continuing their investigations into the aggravated burglary, which occurred around 8:30pm on Monday 2nd April, 2012, at a private residence located on Middle Road in Devonshire Parish. Three men and one woman have been arrested and remain in police custody. The scene of the incident has been forensically examined and samples seized for forensic analysis.

Around 8:30pm on Monday, April 2nd, 2012, police responded to a report of aggravated burglary at a residence in Devonshire near the junction of Middle Road and Hermitage Road. It appears that four suspects were involved; one female and three males, all wearing dark colored clothing with hoodies and scarfs covering their faces. One of the men is alleged to have brandished a machete while another had what appeared to be a firearm. The suspects forced their way into the residence and demanded money and jewelry from the occupants.

Around 2:20pm on Monday April 2nd, police responded to a report of an assault in the vicinity of Devon Point Lane in Devonshire. Details are unclear at this time, but it appears that a 19 year old male was injured and is currently at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital receiving treatment. The suspects are described as two males on a dark-coloured motorcycle, wearing dark clothing. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the main police number on 295-0011.
Search Warrant Results in Three Arrests on Drug Charges

On Thursday, March 29th as a result of information received, officers from the Public Protection Department executed a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a Pembroke residence. As a result, a quantity of suspected controlled drugs was seized and three males were arrested on suspicion of drug possession. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.

On Tuesday, March 27th officers from the Public Protection Department including the K9 Unit and the Underwater Search & Recovery Team conducted an operation at the east end of the Island. As a result, police divers recovered property from area waters and five arrests have been made so far. No further information will be given at this time as inquiries are ongoing.

On Saturday 24th March 2012 officers from the Serious Crime Unit recovered a loaded firearm from a Pembroke residence. The details of the weapon will not be released at this time, and forensic testing will be conducted on the weapon for ballistic results. This is the second firearm recovered to date for 2012.
Investigation Ongoing: Shooting Incident on Reid Street

Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit are also continuing their investigations into the shooting that occurred outside ‘Shine’s’ club on Reid Street in the early hours of Saturday morning at about 3:50am. Officers investigating the incident have recovered a motorcycle and other items that they believe were used in this crime. Forensic testing of these items has been conducted as detectives pursue lines of enquiry regarding the perpetrators, in order to bring them to justice.

Three men appeared in Hamilton Magistrates Court today on multiple charges relating to two separate incidents that occurred on the night of Monday 19th March, 2012. They faced charges of Aggravated Burglary, Serious Sexual Assault, two counts of Taking a Motorcycle without Consent, Assault with Intent to Rob, Possession of a Firearm, and Using a Firearm to Commit an Indictable Offence. All three defendants were remanded in custody as a result.

The Serious Crime Unit is investigating a firearm incident that took place on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton near the junction with Spurling Hill, at approximately 3:50am on Saturday 24th March 2012. It appears that two persons on a dark coloured motorcycle wearing dark coloured helmets were travelling in a westerly direction on Cavendish Road before discharging several shots in the Reid Street, Spurling Hill area. The suspects then made a U-turn and travelled in an easterly direction down Spurling Hill.
At the time of the shooting there were numerous patrons attending and leaving a nightclub in the area who may have witnessed the incident.

Around 3:45am on Saturday, March 24th police responded to reports of gunshots on Reid Street Extension in the City of Hamilton.
Forensic evidence collected at the scene and damage to a building in the area confirmed a firearm had been discharged; however no one was injured. The suspects are believed to be two men on a motorcycle.

The Serious Crime Unit continues to investigate a number of robberies in recent days. Members of the public will recall that the Serpentine Liquors shop on Serpentine Road, Pembroke was robbed at what appears to be gunpoint at about 4:25pm on Thursday 15th March, 2012.
A man in a blue hooded coat with a black helmet & full face visor entered the store and stole a quantity of cash before escaping on the back of a waiting motorcycle that was being ridden by a second suspect.
To date, detectives have interviewed several witnesses and reviewed CCTV footage of the incident, from which we are releasing the attached photos.

Officers actively pursuing lines of enquiry related to recent reported firearm incidents conducted a search warrant at a Rambling Lane, Pembroke residence Tuesday evening, March 20th. As a result, two men were arrested in connection with the reported armed burglary of a Trinity Church Road, Hamilton parish residence around 10:30pm Monday, March 19th. Both men remain in police custody pending further inquiries.

Police are investigating a reported burglary that occurred around 10:30pm on Monday, March 19th at a residence in the Trinity Church Road, Hamilton parish area. It appears that two unknown men gained entry into the home, both brandishing what appeared to be firearms. The intruders stole personal items, as well as a black SYM motorcycle bearing license plate BR438, which they made their escape on. The occupants of the home were not injured.
Update: Sudden Death of Donald Tucker

The Bermuda Police Service can confirm that the initial autopsy results regarding the sudden death of 41 year old Donald Tucker, suggest that Mr. Tucker died of natural causes. The deceased’s family has been made aware of the findings via their appointed Family Liaison Officer. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing.

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 41 year old Donald Tucker of Pembroke. Around 7:10pm on Sunday, March 18th police received a report of a man missing at sea. It appears that two men were out fishing earlier that day in the Cooper’s Island, St. George’s area. One of the men returned to shore safely around 6:30pm; however the other, 41 year old Donald Tucker, was unaccounted for.
As a result, officers from the Marine Police Unit searched the Cooper’s Island area waters for Mr. Tucker and the Maritime Operations Centre appealed for any vessels in the area to assist in locating him.

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing investigations into the armed robbery which occurred at the Serpentine Liquors store located on Serpentine Road, Pembroke, about 4:15pm on Thursday 15th March 2012.
A man entered the store, brandishing what witnesses describe as a firearm, removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register and fled on a motorcycle ridden by another man.
