The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 59 year old Jaha Mallory of Sandys parish who died after being involved in a road traffic collision that took place last Friday at 4:38pm. An autopsy will be conducted in the near future to determine the exact cause of Mr. Mallory's death. The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Mallory. Inquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for witnesses to this collision or anyone who may have seen Mr. Mallory up to an hour before the time of the incident to contact PC James Eli at the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788.
Rudolph Smith Murder Inquiry Commences

Assistant Commissioner of Police Antoine Daniels - Today the Bermuda Police Service is taking an unfamiliar position of officially classifying the disappearance of 41 year-old Pembroke man Mr. Rudy Lamar Smith as a murder.
Mr. Smith was last seen alive about 7pm on Monday 9th July 2012, walking in the area of One-Way Deepdale in Pembroke parish.
After not being seen or spoken to for a number of days, a missing persons report was made to police.
Officers immediately commenced investigations in an effort to trace Mr. Smith’s most recent movements with a view to locating him and establishing if he was in any harm or distress.

Police can now confirm the death of 58 year old Alexander Michael Doty of Indiana who died as a result of injuries received in a collision that took place at approximately 11:10pm on Wednesday in the area of Pitts Bay Road & Roxdene Lane in Pembroke.It appears that Mr. Doty was walking along Pitts Bay Road when he was hit by a 27-year old man traveling on a motorcycle.

Police responded to a report of a serious road traffic collision that took place at 11:35am on South Road in Smith's parish in the area of St. Mark's Church. It appears that a taxi and a 51 year old Paget man on a pedal cycle were traveling along South Road when they collided.
Robbery of Female Rider

At 2:30pm today (Wednesday afternoon) a female was riding her motorcycle west along Middle Road in Devonshire just east of Fort Hill when two black males riding a black cycle road alongside her and caused the female rider to fall from the bike. The suspects then took a substantial quantity of cash and her cycle. The victim received minor cuts and abrasions from this incident.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have seen two black males on a black cycle acting suspiciously in the area of Middle Road in Devonshire to please contact police on 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800 8477.

An extensive investigation involving the Department of Homeland Security and the Bermuda Police Service resulted in the arrest of two Bermudian men who were engaged in smuggling illegal drugs to Bermuda from the State of New Jersey, USA. This combined law enforcement effort enabled officers to identify and disrupt an organized crime network which prevented dangerous drugs from reaching our community.

Reported Serious Collision in Sandys Parish

Around 11:50pm on Monday, July 30th police and first responders attended a reported serious single vehicle collision on Pender Road in Sandys parish. It appears that a motorcyclist was traveling along Pender Road and collided with a wall. As a result the rider, believed to be a 29 year old Hamilton parish man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The extent of his injuries, while potentially serious, is unknown at this time. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.

Search Warrant Results in Drug Seizure, Arrest

On Friday 27th July 2012, officers from the Public Protection Department of the Bermuda Police Service conducted a search warrant at a Sommersall Road, Smith’s parish address. At the residence, officers seized a significant quantity of suspected controlled drugs, which appeared to be under cultivation.
A 38 year old male from Smith’s parish has been arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.

Disappearance of Mr. Rudolph (Rudy) Lamar Smith

Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro, Officer In Charge of the Serious Crime Unit - The Bermuda Police Service continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Rudolph – also known as Rudy – Lamar Smith.
Mr. Smith is 39 years old and resides in the Border Lane area of Pembroke.
Mr. Smith was reported as being missing by family members on Wednesday 11th July, 2012. Investigations were immediately commenced by investigators, who set about tracing his most recent movements and speaking with persons who last saw him.
To date, the Bermuda Police Service has interviewed several persons who have either provided written statements or given verbal information.
Efforts have continued to locate Mr. Smith’s transportation and also examining other evidence available to the investigators. This morning (Monday, July 16th), following a phone call from a member of the public, Mr. Smith’s last known mode of transportation was located in the waters behind Grace Methodist Church on North Shore Road, Pembroke.

Appeal Continues: Missing Person Rudy Smith

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to appeal for the public’s assistance in locating 40 year old Rudy Smith. Information suggests that Mr. Smith was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, beige ¾ length shorts and white sneakers. In addition, he was reportedly seen riding motorcycle AQ 895.
Once again, anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 40 year old Rudy Smith is encouraged to contact the Vulnerable Persons Unit on 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity.

At 2:35pm on Saturday, July 14th the 10 strong police team reached the 750,000 metre mark, three quarters of the way to completing the Million Metre Row Challenge at Sandys 360 Sports, Aquatic & Enrichment Centre! The team, made up of Sergeant Derek Berry, Sergeant Kevin Christopher, Detective Constable Sylvester Augustine, Constable Cerepha Bridgeman, Constable Michael Charlton, Detective Constable Tim Harvey, Teena Tyrrell, Constable Latoyia Brunson, Station Duty Officer Vernagine Symonds and Constable Tiffani DeSilva having been rowing continuously since 3pm on Wednesday, July 11th 2012.

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 40 year old Rudy Smith. Mr. Smith is described as a brown skinned male of slim build, approximately 5’8” tall with brown eyes, close cut black hair and a goatee.
He was last seen during the evening of Monday, July 9th 2012 at his Pembroke residence; however since then there have been reported sightings of him in and around the City of Hamilton area.

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 22 year old Tumaini Steede of Devonshire. Mr. Steede was seriously injured in a motorcycle collision that occurred around 2:15am on Monday, July 2nd along Palmetto Road in Devonshire near the junction with Aeolia Drive. He was admitted to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit as a result and ultimately succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, July 11th.
The investigation into this fatal collision is ongoing and a Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to Mr. Steede’s family to assist them during this difficult time.

Around 8:45pm on Wednesday, July 11th police and first responders attended a reported serious single vehicle collision on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Longford Road. It appears that a motorcyclist was traveling along Middle Road and collided into a roadside embankment. The rider, believed to be a 56 year old Sandys parish man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The extent of the victim’s injuries is unknown at this time; however they are thought to be serious. Any witnesses or anyone with any information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact the main police number on 295-0011.
CAT Officers Assist Rockville Crescent Neighbourhood Clean-Up

Community Action Team Sergeant Scott Devine - On Saturday the 7th of July officers from the Central Community Action Team, attended a neighbourhood clean-up organized by the Rockville Crescent Neighbourhood Watch Group in Pembroke.
Residents had highlighted a vacant plot of land in the neighbourhood that had been used by people to dump trash on, so residents contacted the Department of Parks who very kindly provided mulch as well as some plants.
