Police Actively Seeking Perry Hayward

The Bermuda Police Service is actively attempting to locate Mr. Perry Eugene Hayward. Mr. Hayward has been recalled to prison by the Parole Board for breaching the conditions of his parole, having previously been convicted for a number of offences involving dishonesty. We are seeking the assistance of the community to provide any information on the whereabouts of Perry Hayward and to contact police on telephone number 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477.



Two Women Arrested After Reported Assault in Hamilton Parish

Around 10pm on Saturday, November 9th police officers attended a reported assault in the Ducks Puddle Drive, Hamilton parish area. It appears that a dispute occurred between persons at that location. During the incident one of the women involved apparently brandished a bladed article. As a result one of the other women involved sustained a hand injury. The victim, a 26 year old Warwick woman, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by a private vehicle for treatment. At last check she was in stable condition on a general ward.



Reported Serious Collision in Sandys Parish

Around 1:15am on Saturday, November 9th police and first responders attended a reported serious collision on Malabar Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Kitchener Road. It appears that a SUV was being driven along Malabar Road and a motorcycle was being ridden along the same road when the vehicles collided. The motorcycle rider, a 23 year old Sandys parish man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.



Ongoing Witness Appeal: Jonathan Dill Murder Investigation

Acting Superintendent Nicholas Pedro - Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit continue to investigate the murder of Mr. Jonathan Dill, which occurred on the evening of 2nd September, 2013. Members of the public will recall that Mr. Dill was shot whilst he was at the residence of a friend. A number of witnesses and items of forensic evidence were collected from the scene. In the days following the incident, the following image from a local CCTV camera captured a light coloured car driving up The Glebe Road towards the old “Pepper Pot.”



Investigations Ongoing Into Recent Reported Burglaries

Since October 1st 2013, police have received a number of reports of burglaries having occurred in Sandys, Southampton, Warwick, Paget and Pembroke parishes. Investigations are continuing into these matters and detectives believe that many of these burglaries are linked. The identified areas are:



Reported Armed Robbery at Southampton Gas Station

Around 8:40pm on Monday, November 4th police officers responded to a reported armed robbery at Raynor's Gas Station on Middle Road in Southampton. It appears that three armed men gained entry into the establishment and made demands of money. The suspects left after brandishing what is believed to be a firearm and made good their escape in the area.



Eighth Road Fatality For 2013

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 52 year old Donald Pimentel. Mr. Pimentel, an American contract worker, sustained serious injuries when the rental cycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a motorcycle at the junction of Harbour Road and Morgan Road in Warwick around 5:30pm Friday, October 11th. He was subsequently airlifted overseas for further medical treatment and later succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, October 17th.



Police Actively Seeking Coltrane Ratteray [Arrested]

The Bermuda Police Service is actively seeking to arrest Mr. Coltrane Ratteray. Mr. Ratteray failed to appear before the courts on Thursday 31st October 2013 on an outstanding matter, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest by a Magistrate. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr. Ratteray, or seeing him, is urged to make contact with the police on 295-0011. We would like to assure the public that Mr. Ratteray is not an immediate danger to anyone, but the assistance of the public in apprehending Mr. Ratteray would be greatly appreciated.



Policing for Halloween

Superintendent Sean Field-Lament – For those who celebrate Halloween the intention is for it to be an enjoyable event – an opportunity for harmless family fun, dressing up in costumes and going through the neighbourhood collecting candy. As usual police officers will be patrolling throughout the island, monitoring the various Halloween related activities. Although the Bermuda Police Service is well positioned to deal with Halloween from an enforcement perspective, I really want to take this opportunity to appeal to the community to do your part to preserve the safety and security of everyone. During the past two years, the Bermuda Police Service has seen an encouraging decline in the level of anti-social behaviour associated with Halloween festivities and we will be working hard again this year to continue that trend.



Temporary Road Closures in Sandys Parish & Pembroke Saturday

The motoring public is advised that the Ministry of Public Works has authorised the following temporary road closures on Saturday, October 26th. A section of Mangrove Bay Road in Sandys Parish from 12 noon until 4pm:



18 Year Old Man Seriously Assaulted

Around 5:45pm on Wednesday, October 23rd police officers and emergency medical personnel responded to a reported assault in The Glebe Road, St. Monica’s Road Pembroke area. The victim, an 18 year old Pembroke man, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of his injuries. At last check the teenager was in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.



3 Years Imprisonment for Prolific Offender

51 year old Chet Wilmot was sentenced to three years imprisonment in Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 21st after admitting to stealing from a Tuckers Town Road residence. He pled guilty to removing items including a quantity of gasoline and a chainsaw from the St. George’s property during September of this year. In court prior to sentencing, Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo heard that Wilmot had committed similar offences going back over 30 years.



Reported Missing Person John Albert Rogers Located

The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 82 year old John Albert Rogers. Mr. Rogers was found around 11am today, Tuesday October 22nd, in the Dockyard area. He was subsequently taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for medical assessment.

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 17 year old Jah-Kintae Williams, who has apparently been missing since Wednesday, October 9th. The teenager is described as dark complexioned, approximately 5’2” tall of athletic build with dark brown hair, often worn pulled back. She was last seen wearing a white jacket, blue top, black spandex pants and black open toe sandals.



Reported Missing Juvenile: Daquan Williams [Located]

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 17 year old Daquan Williams, who has apparently been missing since Sunday, October 13th. The teenager is described as brown complexioned, approximately 5’3” tall of medium build with brown low cut hair, weighing around 126 pounds. He is known to frequent the St. George’s / St. David’s areas and was last seen wearing blue sweatpants as well as a blue and cream striped shirt.



Fire on Cedar Avenue

Around 1:15am on Thursday, October 17th police officers and Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel responded to a reported fire at the old Teen Services building on Cedar Avenue in Pembroke. A section of Cedar Avenue has been cordoned off while firefighters work to bring the blaze under control. A full investigation into the cause of the fire will be commenced once it has been extinguished. 6am Update: The fire has been extinguished and the section of Cedar Avenue that was cordoned off has since been reopened to normal traffic flow. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.



Reported Explosion at Ariel Sands Residence

Around 6:25pm on Wednesday, October 16th police officers as well as Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel attended a reported explosion at an Ariel Sands, Devonshire residence. There were no reported injuries; however apparently there was significant damage to the residence involved. In addition, surrounding residences had windows shattered as a result. Inquiries into the cause of this explosion are ongoing.



Reported Serious Collision on Harbour Road

Around 5:30pm on Friday, October 11th police and first responders attended a reported serious collision at the junction of Harbour Road and Morgan Road in Warwick. It appears that a motorcycle was being ridden along Harbour Road and a rental cycle was exiting Morgan Road when the vehicles collided. Initial indications are that the riders, believed to be a 33 year old Southampton man and a 52 year old male contract worker, were seriously injured. Both victims were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.



Police Week 2013: Commissioner for a Day Winners

On Wednesday, October 9th as part of Police Week 2013, nine students from various schools were ‘Commissioners for a Day’ after submitting winning entries to the annual creative artwork and short essay competition held by the Bermuda Police Service. The competition was open to all public and private primary, middle and senior schools across the island. This year’s Police Week theme is ‘Building Community Confidence Through Engagement.’
