Volunteers Boost Search Efforts for Missing Canadian Visitor

Today, coordinated efforts by the Bermuda Regiment, Department of Corrections and H.M. Customs personnel as well as family members and local residents will see in excess of 100 volunteers searching for missing 67 year old Canadian visitor William ‘Bill’ Grange, who was last seen on the evening of Friday, May 2nd at his vacation accommodation, the Cambridge Beaches Resort in Sandys parish.
It is anticipated that more family members will be travelling to the island this week to further assist ongoing search efforts.

Officer in Charge of the Serious Crime Department, Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro - The Bermuda Police Service welcomes the verdict in the trial of Mr. Julian Washington for the murder of Mr. Stefan Burgess.
Members of the public will recall that Mr. Burgess was brutally shot & killed by a gunman who had forcibly entered a home on Glebe Road on 8th January, 2012, and another man was also shot and severely injured in the same incident.

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 47 year old Alvon Brangman, who was reported missing this morning (Monday, May 5th).
Mr. Brangman is described as a black male, 5’11” tall, clean shaven with a short haircut. He also reportedly walks with a limp and typically travels by bus or on foot.

Detective Inspector Mark Clarke - Good Day. The Bermuda Police Service continues to appeal for the public's assistance in locating 67 year old Canadian visitor William Grange who was last seen on Friday evening in area of the Cambridge Beach resort. We are concerned for his safety and have mobilized two additional search teams. Searches of the Cambridge Beaches Resort property as well as the surrounding Sandys parish area have proved unsuccessful to date.
Sudden Death of 51 Year Old Woman

Police responded to a report of a 51 year old woman's lifeless body being found in a residence on Laffan Street at 5:55 this morning. Initial observations do not suggest that foul play was a factor, however police will await the final results from an autopsy. The next of kin has been notified and the Bermuda Police Service offers our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

The Bermuda Police Service is asking for the public's assistance in locating visitor to the island 67 year old William Grange who was visiting from Ontario Canada but staying at Cambridge Beaches. He is described as a white male, 5'9" tall with white hair. He was last seen wearing beige pants, a blue shirt, brown jacket and brown shoes. He suffers from short term memory loss.Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 295-0011.

He is currently detained at the hospital receiving treatment for his injuries. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

At about 10:45pm on Wednesday 23rd April 2014 – Police officers responded to a report of gunshots in Riviera Crescent, Southampton. Police officers responded to this incident and attended #16 Riviera Crescent, where officers were directed to a male who was suffering from suspected gun-shot wounds.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro - Around 10:45pm on Wednesday, April 23rd officers received reports of gunshots in the Riviera Crescent, Southampton area. On attendance in the area they found a 29 year old male inside a residence suffering from gunshot wounds. He has been conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he has been declared deceased. A full murder enquiry is underway by officers from the Serious Crime Unit of the Bermuda Police Service and information will be forthcoming in the near future.
Power Restored to CCTV Cameras After Brief Hiatus

Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Wright - The Bermuda Police Service would like to inform the public that the power to the GET owned CCTV poles was disconnected yesterday before the transfer of ownership of the poles had concluded.
The transfer of ownership has now been completed and BELCO have resumed powering the CCTV cameras that were temporarily without power. We wish to extend our thanks to GET Ltd., BAS-SERCO, and BELCO for working expeditiously to resolve this issue.

CCTV Expansion Project Update

Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva - After an unfortunate slow start to the CCTV expansion project, I can report today that significant progress has now been made.
As a first step, the service provider is restoring service to the priority areas that were covered prior to 1st April. That work is substantially complete, with a handful of cameras left to install over the next few days.

Police and other first responders attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision that took place near the junction with Pitts Bay Road and Turnstile Lane in Pembroke on Friday at approximately 11pm.The 28 year old man apparently was riding his motorcycle and collided with a wall. He was taken via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he is listed in serious condition with head injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the aggravated burglary that occurred this morning Friday 28th March at a residence on Club Road, Smith's.At approximately 7am, 3 males dressed in all black, wearing black helmets entered a residence on Club Road and attacked the male occupant. The victim sustained facial injuries and later attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. An undisclosed amount of cash is believed to have been stolen.

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of an email warning cyclists that traps are being set using fishing line across roadways to dismount cyclists with the intention of robbing them.
While no robberies have been reported, the Bermuda Police Service can confirm that on Friday 14th March a car became entangled in fishing line on Marsh Folly Road, Pembroke and on the evening of Sunday 16th March an off-duty police officer became entangled in fishing line while riding his motorcycle at Cobbs Hill Road, Warwick causing him to fall off.

Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva - The Bermuda Police Service would like to recognise the career of Deputy Commissioner Mike Jackman, who retires today after 32 years of policing in Bermuda.
Mr. Jackman began his initial training in 1982, joining the Bermuda Police Force as part of Recruit Foundation Course #31.
