Superintendent Martin Weekes - The Bermuda Police Service wishes to take this opportunity to advise the public on a number of matters to ensure a peaceful and safe time during this year’s Heritage Day holiday weekend.
The purpose of this press conference is to flesh out the details of how we will police the holiday weekend using High Visibility patrols alongside our Partner agencies in the Bermuda Reserve Police and the Bermuda Regiment.
RFC #76 Student Officers Embrace Diverse Backgrounds

Today, members of Recruit Foundation Course (RFC) #76 had the opportunity to be interviewed by local media representatives about their choice to become a police officer, as orientation week continues.
All 25 student officers have had various life experiences that ultimately led them to seek a career with the Bermuda Police Service (BPS).

Today, Recruit Foundation Course (RFC) #76 began with 25 student officers reporting to Police Headquarters in Prospect, Devonshire for their initial orientation.
RFC #76 is an intensive 17 week training course comprising various topics including Bermuda’s laws, police procedures, mediation training, officer safety training, first aid, diversity training and driver training to name just a few.
Reported Disturbance at Southampton Rangers Sports Club

Around 9:15pm on Sunday, May 18th police officers responded to a reported disturbance at Southampton Rangers Sports Club. Details are unclear at this time; however it appears that a 26 year old man may have been injured during the incident.The wounded male subsequently attended the hospital for treatment, but apparently his injury is not life threatening. Any witnesses or persons with information regarding this matter should contact the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.
Reported Missing Juvenile: Ryan Saltus [Located]

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 15 year old Ryan Saltus, who has apparently been missing since Saturday, May 17th.
She is described as brown complexioned, approximately 5 feet tall with curly black hair and dark brown eyes. The teenager was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and sneakers.
Reported Serious Motorcycle Collision in Paget

Police responded to a report of a road traffic collision that took place at 4:43pm Saturday on South Road just 200 meters west of the public entrance to Elbow Beach. It appears that a rider was traveling west when he lost control of his motorcycle and ended up over an embankment. The man was taken to the hospital where he is being treated with head injuries.Police are appealing for witnesses to contact police on 295-0011.
Reported Serious Collision in Warwick

Police responded to a report of a road traffic collision that took place at 12:16am Saturday morning on Middle Road in Warwick outside of Warwick Lanes Bowling Alley. Details are sketchy, but it appears that a motorcycle was traveling west when the rider of the cycle collided with a pedestrian that was crossing the walkway.
Both men have been taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where they are being treated with serious head and leg injuries.
Car Collides With Utility Pole Near Watford Bridge

Around 8:15pm on Thursday, May 15th first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle collision on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near Watford Bridge.It appears that a car collided with a utility pole, resulting in downed power lines across that section of road.
Police Search Specific Sandys Parish Areas for Missing Visitor [Updated]

The Bermuda Police Service is currently carrying out searches for missing Canadian visitor 67 year old Mr. William ‘Bill’ Grange in certain neighborhoods in Sandys parish, as a result of persistent sightings in those areas.
The searches started at 9am and will continue until 5pm today. All officers involved are wearing reflective police vests.

Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva - "Mr. Paul Wright was sworn in this morning as Deputy Commissioner of the Bermuda Police Service by Acting Governor Ginny Ferson. The small ceremony was held at 11:30 am at Government House and was attended by his wife, Mrs. Angela Wright, and Commissioner of Police, Mr. Michael DeSilva.The Deputy Commissioner's role includes oversight of the Departments of Finance, Human Resources, and Information Management Services.

Detective Inspector Mark Clarke – Today marks the 10th day since Mr. William ‘Bill’ Grange went missing from the Cambridge Beaches Resort, Sandys Parish area.
The Bermda Police Service continues to search for him. If anyone fitting the description of Mr. Grange is observed, engage the individual and contact the police immediately.
Members of the Grange family, both close and extended, continue to assist.

Detective Inspector Mark Clarke – Island-wide search efforts resumed at 8am Saturday, May 10th for missing 67 year old Canadian visitor Mr. William ‘Bill’ Grange and continued through Sunday, May 11th.
Members of the Grange family were an integral part of the ongoing search efforts for their loved one, who suffers from short term memory loss and was last seen around 10pm Friday, May 2nd at his vacation accommodation, Cambridge Beaches Resort in Sandys parish.
Reported Emergency Landing of a Military Aircraft Underway [Updated]

All emergency protocols are presently in place at the eastern end of the island, including the closure of the Causeway until further notice, due to the reported emergency landing of a military aircraft. An update will be provided in due course.
Update: The aircraft has landed safely, without incident, and the Causeway is now open.
Weekend Searches for Missing Canadian Visitor Underway

This morning at 8am just under 100 persons embarked on a search for missing Canadian visitor William Grange. Police were accompanied by sister agencies Department of Corrections, H.M. Customs, the Bermuda Regiment and members of the community. The searches will include. West, East and Central areas.We are also asking the boating community both today and tomorrow to please be vigilant and continue to search the shoreline and look in all boats and marine vessels for the missing 67 year old man.
Investigation Ongoing Into Child Remains

Assistant Commissioner of Police Antoine Daniels - About 11:20am today police received a report of what appeared to be the remains of a lifeless baby discovered near to a grave site on Trinity Church Road in Hamilton Parish. Police attended a short time later and on arrival confirmed that there were remains of a baby in a mummified condition. A medical practitioner attended the scene and confirmed that the body appeared to be of an infant male. A forensic examination was conducted of the scene and a comprehensive search made of the immediate area seeking any additional information that could assist police officers with their initial investigations.
Suspected Child Remains Found in Hamilton Parish

At 11:23am on Friday, May 9th police responded to a report of an incident that took place on Trinity Church Road in Hamilton parish. It appears that a landscaper was working in the area when he came upon what looks like the remains of a young child. The Forensic Support Unit and the Criminal Investigation Unit attended the scene and a full investigation into the incident is underway.

Detective Inspector Mark Clarke – Today marks one week since Canadian visitor 67 year old William ‘Bill’ Grange went missing in the Cambridge Beaches, Sandys parish area. As part of the ongoing search efforts, the Bermuda Police Service will be coordinating search groups in the western parishes, central parishes and eastern parishes on Saturday, May 10th.
I am encouraging members of the public, particularly community groups including churches, social groups, sporting bodies, boy scouts and girl guides – to name a few – to come out on Saturday and support these search efforts.
Suspicious Objects Recovered in Somerset

Today, May 8th police responded to a report of suspicious items (believed to be firearms) along with an undisclosed amount of ammunition found in dense foliage in the area of Somerset Long Bay Beach.The area has been cordoned off while the area is forensically examined.We anticipate a full update in due course.
