Two Men Injured in Pembroke Collision

At 5:13pm first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision in the vicinity of Cox’s Hill and Mount View Road in Pembroke. Details are sketchy, but it appears that a 23 year old male on a livery cycle and a 43 year old male on a motorcycle collided. As a result, both men were conveyed to the hospital and the 23 year old male is presently being treated for serious head injuries whilst the 43 year old is being treated for serious lacerations to his arm.



Reported Missing Teenager: Psalm-J Darrell [Located]

The Bermuda Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 14 year old Psalm-J Darrell who has apparently been missing since Tuesday March 24th. He is described  as a light complexioned, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall weighing 115 pounds. Psalm-J is known to frequent Middle Town and St. Augustine Lane.



Investigation Into Two Fire Incidents

Police responded to a report of a suspicious fire that was started beside a vehicle in the parking lot of Harmony Club in Paget at approximately 9:45pm. The fire was quickly extinguished by a person in the area and an investigation into this matter has commenced. In a similar incident on Wednesday, March 24 at 10:15pm, first responders attended to a report of a fire that took place on Cavendish Road where a person started a fire outside the premises of a residence in the area. That fire was also extinguished and in both cases no one was injured.



BPS Recognises Passing of Retired Superintendent Victor Richmond

Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva - On behalf of all ranks and members of staff of the Bermuda Police Service I express our sympathies on the passing of retired Superintendent Victor “Vic” Richmond last week.Mr. Richmond’s career began in 1966 with the Bermuda Police Force, as it was known then, alongside other police recruits from the UK.

Injury Updates & Traffic Diversions Following Crow Lane Bus Collision

Reports from the hospital indicate that after this morning’s bus collision a total of eight persons arrived at the Emergency Room for treatment including two visitors to Bermuda and a small number of children, taken for medical assessment by their parents. However, all have minor injuries. None of the eight individuals that attended required admission. Traffic diversions in the area of this incident continue, as efforts are made to remove the bus from the scene by crane this afternoon.



Investigation Into Willful Damage of City of Hamilton Buildings

Superintendent Darrin Simons - The Bermuda Police Service has received five separate reports of willful damage in the City of Hamilton. It appears that an individual or individuals spray painted buildings in the city overnight. As of 11am the affected locations are: Rear of Cabinet Building, Reid Street side Global House on Church Street



Sexual Assault Course Sponsored by SART

Twelve Detectives from the Crime Division of the Bermuda Police Service, this week (Feb 16-20th) have embarked on critical training around Sexual Assault. The training is hosted by the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) which includes Nurse Examiners, Bermuda Police Service, Department of Child and Family Services and The Center Against Abuse. The course is being facilitated by Kathy Bell MS RN, forensic Nursing Administrator for the Tulsa Police Department, Tulsa Oklahoma along with local experts: Nurse Rebeca Madeiros and Gaynell Hayward-Caesar Chief Nursing Officer and Inspector Mark Clarke.



Witness Appeal: Reported Armed Robbery of Motorcycle in Warwick

Investigators continue to appeal for witnesses to a reported robbery of a motorcycle from a 33 year old female guest worker riding along South Road in Warwick near Astwood Park that occurred around 11:30am Wednesday, February 4th. The three male suspects on two dark coloured motorcycles, one brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, were described as wearing dark coloured clothing and dark coloured helmets. The female guest worker was not injured during the incident.



Two Police Motorcyclists Injured in Sandys Parish Collision

Around 1pm on Wednesday, February 4th Roads Policing Unit officers were conducting traffic enforcement activity in the Middle Road, Overplus Lane Sandys parish area when it appears that a male motorcyclist committed a traffic offence and failed to stop for police, resulting in a pursuit. At some point during the pursuit a collision occurred with the traffic offender and two police motorcyclists. He was later arrested.



Reported Armed Robbery of Motorcycle in Warwick

Around 11:30am on Wednesday, February 4th police officers were dispatched to a reported ‎robbery of a motorcycle.It appears that the rider, believed to be a female guest worker in her 30s, was robbed of her motorcycle while riding in the South Road Warwick area near Astwood Park by ‎three male suspects on two motorcycles.One of the suspects apparently brandished what appeared to be a firearm during the incident.



Two Men Injured in Altercation Outside Southampton Residence [Update]

Around 9:10pm on Tuesday, February 3rd first responders were dispatched to a reported burglary at a Middle Road, Southampton residence located off the Railway Trail in the Granaway Heights area‎.It appears that an altercation took place outside the premises between an alleged male intruder and two male residents of the home, resulting in the suspect and one of the residents sustaining stab wounds.



Three Vehicle Collision in Hamilton Parish [Update]

Around 7:30pm Tuesday, February 3rd first responders were dispatched to a reported three vehicle road traffic collision that took place on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish near Clearview Guest Apartments.It appears that a car being driven along the said road collided with two other cars being driven in the opposite direction.



Sudden Death of Richard Perry

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 59 year old Richard Perry of Paget and extends condolences to his family and friends. Around 11:15pm on Saturday, January 31st first responders were dispatched to a reported fire at a Bostock Hill West, Paget residence. Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel gained entry into the lower apartment and extricated Mr. Perry, who was unresponsive.

Commissioner of Police, Michael A. DeSilva: Much has been published in the media recently about the number of road traffic collisions in Bermuda. The reports have included the tragic deaths of 16 motorists in 2014 and 2 in the first month of 2015. They have included observations about the long term effects of serious injuries resulting from collisions, the costs attached to healthcare and insurance, and the high number of collisions relative to the size of our population.



BPS Receives CableVision Community Service Award

On behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the BPS Public & Media Relations Unit is proud to announce that the Bermuda Police Service was recognized ‘for going beyond the call of duty to protect and serve the Island and its people’ with a Community Service Award at last night’s 10th annual CableVision ‘Salute to Service’ banquet. Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva was on hand at the event, themed ‘Service Above Self’, to receive the award at the Fairmont Southampton Resort - along with several other police officers representing various aspects of policing.



Ninth Annual Paul Marsden Memorial Rugby Game Sunday

The 9th Annual Paul Marsden Memorial Rugby game will be taking place this Sunday 18th January 2015 at 3:30pm at National Sports Complex south pitch. As a reminder Paul Marsden was Police Constable 2206 who tragically died on the rugby field while playing rugby for the Bermuda Police Rugby Club against Mariners RFC on 22nd January 2006.



Official Opening of the BPS Occupational Health Unit (OHU)

Deputy Commissioner of Police Paul Wright - Although policing can be a hugely satisfying and rewarding form of public service, it can also be stressful, exhausting and otherwise challenging for all police officers, reserve police and support staff. The BPS has made progress in recent years to place more emphasis on wellness support for our staff and today, the official opening of the new Occupational Health Unit (OHU) represents a significant leap forwards in terms of elevating the importance of that support.



Confirmed Firearm Incident in Sandys Parish: No Reported Injuries

Around 9:40pm on Tuesday, January 13th police responded to reports of gunshots in the Heath Lane, Sandys parish area off Sound View Road.Forensic evidence collected at the scene confirmed that a firearm had been discharged; however there have been no reported injuries at this time.



Second Road Fatality for 2015

Around 5:55pm on Monday, January 12th first responders attended a reported serious two vehicle collision on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Ord Road. It appears that a motorcyclist, believed to be a 59 year old Paget man, was riding along Middle Road when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a car. He apparently succumbed to his injuries at the scene and was subsequently pronounced dead at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
