‘B’ Watch Central Donate Gifts to Two Deserving Victor Scott Students

Acting Inspector Carl Gibbons - Good afternoon everyone, and thank you for coming. I would just like to take a moment to quickly acknowledge a few persons in attendance prior to this brief presentation. We have Chief Inspector Calvin Smith who is the Officer in Charge of uniform personnel in the East, West and Central areas. Ms. Angela Vincent, the guidance counselor from Victor Scott Primary. Edward Smith, the father of Xy-Unn Simmons; Consellow Ming, the mother of Monét Daniels-Ming; as well as officers from ‘B’ Watch central.



Christmas Road Safety Message

Inspector Robert Cardwell, Officer Responsible for the Roads Policing Unit – We are now well into the Christmas Season. During this season there is much celebration and festive cheer.  However, sadly it is also in this season that statistically we will see life lost on the roads. In January this year the Bermuda Police Service rolled out its Road Safety Strategy. This strategy has been embraced by every operational unit of the police service, and we have seen some remarkable results.



BPS Strategic Plan 2016 - 2018

Commissioner of Police Michael A. DeSilva CPM - It is my privilege to present the Bermuda Police Service Strategic Plan for the period 2016 to 2018. The plan comprises five areas of strategic focus for the next three calendar years, commencing in January 2016. Specific objectives for each of those years will be provided in the form of separate Annual Policing Plans that will coincide with the Government’s financial years from 1st April until the following 31st March. This ensures there is approved funding available for each specific project that might require it.



Car Collides With Pedestrian in Paget [Updated]

Around 5pm on Wednesday, December 2nd first responders were dispatched to a reported collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Rural Hill in Paget. Details are limited at this time. However the injured pedestrian has been taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of a suspected head injury.



Suspicious Death at Sentinel Hill

Around 9:30pm on Thursday, November 26th police officers ‎executing a search warrant at a Sentinel Hill, Southampton residence discovered a male believed to be in his 20s in an unresponsive state inside, under suspicious circumstances. No further information regarding the deceased will be given at this time until next of kin has been notified.



Press Release Commissioner -v- Michael Harkin Judgement

The Chief Justice ruled today on the appeal of Commissioner -v- Michael Harkin. The case involves an appeal against a Human Rights Commission ruling that in 2009 the (then) Commissioner breached former Constable Harkin’s human rights over a delayed promotion, and then non-renewal of contract. Reported Serious Motorcycle Collision on Crow Lane

Around 2:30am on Friday, November 20th first responders were dispatched to a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle collision on Crow Lane in Pembroke near the junction with Corkscrew Hill. It appears that a motorcycle being ridden out of the City of Hamilton collided with the kerb, approaching the north round-a-bout.



One Man Shot & Injured: Nine Beaches (Daniel's Head) Sandys Parish Area

Around 2:40am on Saturday, November 14th police officers responded to a report of gunshots in the area of Nine Beaches (Daniel’s Head) Sandys parish. It has been confirmed that one male was shot and injured in his lower extremities. The victim, believed to be a 25 year old Sandys parish man, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

The Bermuda Police Service held a press conference today to advise the public on policing plans over the Halloween weekend.Acting Assistant Commissioner Darrin Simons "We have called this press conference today to advise the public on the policing plans that we have for this weekend, including Halloween on Saturday night. I thought it was important to this share this information in light of the fatal shooting last Friday and the attempted robbery of the cash transit van yesterday afternoon.



Murder of Rickai Duane Swan

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Dave A. Greenidge, Officer in Charge of the Serious Crime Unit - Around 10:42 pm on Friday 23rd October 2015, officers responded to 911 calls and reports of two males being shot at the Southampton Rangers Sports Club. On arrival, officers discovered one injured male laying stationary on the club property. Emergency Medical Technicians attended the scene and the victim was conveyed to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead by an emergency physician. The other victim made his way to the hospital on his own accord.



Press Conference: Jonathan Darrell Murder Investigation

Bermuda Service held a press conference at the Rural Hill Plaza in Paget, where Mr Johnathan Darrell was fatally wounded. Supt. Sean Field-Lament- "On behalf of the Bermuda Police Service, I would like to express our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Jonathan Darrell.  Our thoughts are with them during these very difficult times.  The Bermuda Police Service has launched an investigation into the untimely death of Mr. Darrell which is spearheaded by the Serious Crime Unit (SCU) under the direction of Acting Inspector Jason Smith and a family liaison officer has been assigned to the family of the deceased to help them manage and cope with the process.  This marks the second murder for 2015 and already officers are following some promising lines of inquiry.



Press Conference: Rubis Around the Island Powerboat Race

Inspector Robert W. Cardwell - The Bermuda Police Service is once again pleased to partner with the Bermuda Power Boat Association to ensure the safety of participants and the boating public for the Round-the-Island Powerboat Race that is scheduled for this coming Sunday – 9th August. The Bermuda Police Service will be working closely with the Bermuda Powerboat Association executive members and their race course Marshalls. The participants in the race have skills in racing powerboats which they have been rehearsing throughout the season with regular meets at the Ferry Reach. The round-the-island powerboat race offers excitement to the boating public, but it is necessary to ensure that all mariners take steps to assist us with safety.

Sexual Act at Cup Match

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a video clip currently circulating on social media purporting to show two persons engaging in sexual activity in public at Cup Match. The BPS are looking into the matter and would ask anyone that can assist us with this inquiry to contact Inspector Mark Clarke on 717-0282 or mclarke@bps.bm. The public is reminded that offenses under the Telecommunications Act are committed even when only sharing material such as this and the public are asked not to pass on this material but to delete it on receipt.



Reported Stabbing: 18 Year Old Male Treated & Discharged From Hospital

Police responded to a report of an incident that took place at Tiger Bay in St. George's around 2am. It appears that after the concert a fight ensued in the area of the gate resulting in an 18 year old male being taken to the hospital for a minor stab wound. The 18 year old male was subsequently treated and released from the hospital. Police are appealing for witnesses to this incident to contact police on 295-0011. It should be noted that the concert for the most part was uneventful with most of the 3,000 plus attendees conducting themselves responsibly.



Reported Missing Person: Stefan Dunn [Located]

Police are asking the public’s assistance in locating 42 year old Stefan Dunn of Sandys, who was last seen on Thursday at 11am in the area of Royal Bermuda Yacht Club. He is described as a white male 5’8" tall, blonde hair, blue eyes. At the time of his disappearance he was wearing a checkered blue and white jacket, tan pants, and a button up shirt. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Stefan Dunn is asked to contact police on 295-0011.

Reported Serious Collision in Warwick

At 6:50pm on Sunday, first responders attended a report of a collision that took place on South Road in Warwick, just adjacent to Warwick Long Bay. It appears that a 28 year old Pembroke man was traveling on a livery cycle when he collided with a car that was traveling in the opposite direction. As a result that man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he presently is being treated for injuries that are classified as life threatening.



Death of Job Tucker

Chief Inspector Na’imah Astwood - On behalf of the Bermuda Police Service I would first like to express our condolences to the family and friends of Job Solomon Tucker. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during these very trying times. As a result of the untimely death of Mr. Tucker, The Bermuda Police Service has launched a detailed investigation which is being spear headed by the Serious Crime Unit.



BPS Signs MOU With The Duke Of Edinburgh’s International Award Bermuda

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) and The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (DofE) have signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) to offer the Award programme as a personal and professional development resource for the Bermuda Police Cadet Programme, which serves young people between the ages of 16 - 21. The BPS programme supports the academic attainment of each police cadet and grooms them for a successful policing career in service to the community.
