Students Involved in Fight

At 3:49pm on Monday March 7th police received a report of a large group of students fighting in the area of the round-a-bout of Palmetto Road and Dock Hill Devonshire. The fight involved combatants using helmets, sticks and rocks. Upon police arrival the students dispersed in the area and the identity of those involved are unknown at this point. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact police on 295-0011.



COP Press Release: East Broadway Protesting

This afternoon [1-Mar-16] Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva issued a press release regarding the East Broadway protesting that took place this morning. Mr. DeSilva also reminded protestors and organizers that their actions must be lawful and they must not intrude on the rights of others. Commisioner of Police Michael DeSilva - Members of the public will be aware of protest activity that took place this morning. Around 6:30 am approximately 30 persons gathered near the junction of East Broadway and Lane Hill and commenced a protest. Police officers arrived shortly after and were immediately concerned that the protestors were standing across the road and had blocked both lanes entering the City of Hamilton.



Second Road Fatality for 2016

Police can now confirm the death of a 21 year old Warwick man who died as a result of a road traffic collision that took place today (Monday, February 29th). No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.



Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Two Vehicle Collision [Updated]

At 2:38pm today [29-Feb] first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place at the junction of Harvey & Ord Road in Paget. Upon police arrival it was ascertained that a 21 year old Warwick man was travelling west on Ord Road when he collided with a truck turning onto Harvey Road. As a result the 21 year old man was taken to KEMH, where his condition has been listed as serious.



First Road Fatality for 2016

A 31 year old male guest worker has died as a result of the road traffic collision that took place at 1:22am this morning. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified. This marks the first road fatality for 2016.



Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Birdcage Collision [Updated]

At 1:22am Thursday first responders attended a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision that took place on Front Street at the junction of Queen Street.Upon police arrival it was ascertained that a 31 year old man on a motorcycle was traveling west on Front Street when it appears that rider lost control of his cycle and collided with the Birdcage.



Two Men Arrested in Connection With Thefts From ATMs

The Bermuda Police Service has arrested two men in connection with a series of thefts from ATMs in Pembroke and Warwick, over the last few days. Reported Robbery at Arnold's Supermarket

At 9:13pm on Monday night police attended a report of a robbery that took place at Arnold's Supermarket on St. John's Road in Pembroke. Details are still developing but it appears that a male entered the store and forcefully gained access to a cash-register while a cashier was completing a transaction and stole an undisclosed amount of money and then left the scene.



2015 End of Year Crime Statistics

Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva - The total crime for 2015 was 3,750 offences. This was spread evenly over the four quarters of the year, with about 937 crimes recorded in each quarter. The total represents an increase of 356 more crimes than 2014. That is approximately 1 additional crime each day and equates to an increase in total crime of about 10.5%. It should be noted that 2014 recorded the lowest total crime rate since the year 2000. The longer term picture is that the 5-year trend has remained level, and total crime has remained below the 4,000 mark for the 4th consecutive year.



Reported Armed Robbery

A few minutes after 9pm on Tuesday evening police responded to a report of a robbery at Island Spice Restaurant at Middle Road in Warwick. Upon police arrival, it was ascertained that two males riding a motorcycle gained entry into the establishment and brandished what appeared to be a firearm and made demands of money. They were given an undisclosed amount of cash and the two males then left on the motorcycle.



Investigation Into Alleged Misappropriation of Funds

The Bermuda Police Service can confirm it is conducting an active criminal investigation into an allegation of misappropriation of funds amounting to approximately $18 million, resulting from a loan made to Par La Ville Hotel & Residences Ltd. intended to pay costs associated with the building of a hotel and residences at the Par La Ville car park in the City of Hamilton. A 41 year old male from Smith Parish is assisting the Police in the enquiry, and has been arrested on suspicion of theft.



Woman Injured in Assault [Updated]

At approximately 5:35pm on Sunday police responded to a report of an incident that took place on Sunday in the area of Cedar Park in Devonshire. Upon police arrival it was ascertained that a 24 year old woman received  stab wounds  to the face by a 21 year old woman. The  victim was taken to the hospital where she is being treated for injuries that do not appear to be life threatening.



Man Shot & Injured on Happy Valley Road [Updated]

Sunday, January 10,2016

Approximately 10:45 pm Police and First Responders attended a report of a firearms incident that took place on Happy Valley Road in Devonshire.  Upon police arrival it was ascertained that a 37 year old male was shot outside of a residence resulting in the victim being taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. His condition at this time is unknown. The area has been cordoned off and the area is being processed by officers from the Forensic Support Unit and the Serious Crime Unit.



Reported Serious Two Vehicle Collision in Warwick

At 7.45 p.m. Police and first responders attended a report of a collision that took place at the junction of Middle Road and Cobbs Hill in Warwick. It appears that a man riding a motorcycle with a pillion passenger was travelling west on Middle Road when he collided with a car that was turning south onto Cobbs Hill. As a result, the rider of the bike was trapped under the car and had to be extricated by the Bermuda Fire Service.



Missing Person Bard Orrell Davis [Located]

Police are asking the public’s assistance in locating 51 year-old Bard Orrell Davis of Hamilton Parish, who was last seen during the week of 21st December 2015, in the Town of St. George wearing a red shirt and beige pants. He is described as a white male approximately 5’10" tall, weighing approximately 175lbs. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Bard Orrell Davis is asked to contact police on 295-0011. Update: Mr. Davis has been located. We would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating him.



New Year's Eve Policing

Yesterday Superintendent Darrin Simons of the Community Policing Division udated the media on the policing over the New Years Holiday. See Supt Simons' full statement below Superintendent Darrin Simons - Over the Christmas holiday there have been a number of significant incidents, a tragic road traffic fatality (7th this year), a shooting, as well as a robbery. It is in this context that I wish to advise the public of the BPS plans to police the New Year's events.



Press Conference: Police Update On Christmas Holiday Weekend Incidents

In a press conference held earlier today, Supt. Sean Field-Lament updated the media on police related incidents, which took place over the Christmas holiday weekend. At the same press conference, Acting Det. Insp. Jason Smith issued a statement followed by an appeal for witnesses regarding the shooting incident, which took place last night [28-Dec] in the St Monica’s Road Pembroke area. Their full statements can be read below.



Update: Morgan Road Shooting

Sergeant Jason Smith - On the 14th of December 2016, the peace and tranquility in the neighborhood of Morgan Road was interrupted when two males riding on a dark colored motorcycle rode up from Harbour Road and opened fire on eight individuals congregating on a wall outside of a private residence.  This resulted in a 17 year old male being treated for non-life threatening injuries.



Change of Bermuda Reserve Police Ranks and Insignia

As part of the new Strategic Plan released by the BPS last week, a review was conducted of the Bermuda Reserve Police (BRP) to streamline the command structure and create a more efficient supervisory and management system. Supervisory ranks in the Reserves, which traditionally mirrored the same ranks in the full-time police, have been re-titled and given new insignia to be worn on the uniform.



Teen Male Injured in Warwick Shooting [Updated]

At a few minutes before 9pm Tuesday, police responded to an incident that took place on Morgan Road in Warwick. It appears that 2 males on a motorcycle road up to 6 males sitting on a wall in the area and opened fire. This resulted in a sixteen year old male being shot in his leg. He was taken to the hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
