Remembrance Day Parade Traffic Advisory

The motoring public is reminded that certain sections of road will be closed and parking restricted in the City of Hamilton for the Remembrance Day parade Friday, November 11th.
From 10am until 12:30pm Friday the following areas will be closed to vehicular traffic:
Front Street – between Queen Street and King Street.

The below statement is in response to a media query received from the Royal Gazette.
“The Somerset area of the Warren Simmons Community Field has a long-standing history of attracting people to congregate and socialise nearby. The antisocial element of those groups, unfortunately, adversely impacts the community and area businesses. In this way, the area is sadly not the only one across Bermuda that experiences this problem.
Inquiries Continue Regarding Reported Suspicious Incidents

Around 5:15pm on Tuesday, November 8th police officers responded to a reported aggravated burglary at an Orchard Grove, Pembroke residence.
It appears that two unknown men on a motorcycle arrived at the residence, one brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, demanding money.
However, they left empty handed a short time later on the motorcycle they arrived on.
Reported Three Vehicle Collision on St. David’s Road [Updated]

Around 6:10pm on Tuesday, November 8th police officers were dispatched to a reported three vehicle collision on St. David’s Road in St. George’s.
Details remain unclear at this time. However, apparently a motorcyclist struck a car and an ambulance in the vicinity of Southside Police Station.
Man Turns Himself In Regarding Collision With 7 Year Old Boy

A 28 year old man turned himself in to police Saturday afternoon and was arrested in connection with the collision that injured a 7 year old boy crossing North Shore Road, Pembroke in the vicinity of West Pembroke Primary School last Wednesday.
He has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries. The injured boy was discharged from hospital Saturday (November 5th).
Reported Serious Collision on Mullet Bay Road [Updated]

Around 12:15am on Sunday, November 6th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle crash on Mullet Bay Road in St. George’s.
Details remain unclear at this time.
However the motorcyclist, believed to be a 49 year old male Yugoslavian guest worker, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of head injuries.

Around 10:55am on Saturday, November 5th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported serious collision on Parsons Road in Pembroke, near the junction with Rambling Lane, involving a motorcycle and a car.
Details remain unclear at this time. However the motorcyclist, a 29 year old Pembroke man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.

Around 10pm on Friday, November 4th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle crash on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Jennings Road.
Details remain unclear at this time. However, it appears that the male motorcyclist involved crashed into a roadside wooden fence.
Collision Near West Pembroke Primary School [Updated]

Around 4:40pm on Wednesday, November 2nd police and first responders were dispatched to a reported collision involving a motorcyclist and a child on North Shore Road in Pembroke near the junction with Princess Estate Road.It appears that an 8 year old boy was crossing the road in the vicinity of West Pembroke Primary School when he was struck.Apparently the male motorcyclist involved stopped and initially spoke with the child before riding off.
Reported Attempted Armed Robbery at Point Mart

At 12:45pm today (Tuesday, November 1st) police attended a report of an attempted armed robbery that took place at Point Mart on St. John’s Road in Pembroke.
It appears that a male entered the premises, brandished what was believed to be a firearm and made demands of money.
At the time there were patrons in the store as well as employees. However, no injuries were reported.
Van Overboard

This morning, police responded to a report of a van found in the water off of Mangrove Bay Road, in Sandys. It appears that the driver of the van lost control of his vehicle and landed in the water.
As a result a 41 year old man has been arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Police have commenced an investigation into this incident and any witnesses are asked to contact police on 295-0011.
Collision on Marsh Folly Road [Updated]

Police and first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place at 8:53pm on Marsh Folly Road in Pembroke.
It appears that a motorcycle rider was traveling west on Marsh Folly Road when the male rider collided with a car that was traveling in the opposition direction.
The rider of the cycle was taken to the hospital where his condition is believed to be serious.

Good Day, my name is Acting Superintendent Steve Donnelly and this press conference has been called to discuss the upcoming Halloween celebrations.
Halloween is fast approaching and on Monday, October 31st children and adults alike, dress up in costumes and enjoy a host of activities across the island. Children will be going door to door to collect candy and many adults will gather at private Halloween functions across the island during the weekend prior to Monday.

Response: Violence at Somerset Cricket Club After Sunday's Football Game

Assistant Commissioner Martin Weekes - "On Sunday, October 23, 2016, a scheduled football game took place at Somerset Cricket Club between Dandy Town and Somerset Trojans. The Bermuda Police Service deployed a number of officers including Armed resources based on requests from the BFA including concerns around some members of the visiting team and officers maintained a consistent presence at the field for the duration of the game. The Somerset Cricket Club is responsible for security at all scheduled games. Security for this game did not include the hiring of Extra Duty Police Officers.
Murder of 19 Year Old Isaiah Furbert

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Mark Clarke - Police can now confirm the death of 19 year old Isaiah Furbert who died as a result of a firearm incident that took place at 10pm Tuesday on Upland Street in Devonshire.
Details of the incident are very unclear but Mr. Furbert was shot at a residence on Upland Street and was subsequently taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:24 pm.
On behalf of the Bermuda Police Service we would first like to send our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Isaiah.
Fatal Shooting on Upland Street in Devonshire

Chief Inspector Tracy Adams - At approximately 10pm tonight police responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Upland Street, Devonshire. Upon arrival they discovered a 19 year old male had been shot and taken to the hospital where he has succumbed to his injuries. On scene now we have our Forensic Support Unit and Serious Crime Unit conducting initial inquiries and we'll be making a full statement later tomorrow as soon as we get more details as to what's taken place at this residence.
Reported Missing Person: Jahroy Simons [Located]

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 30 year old Jahroy Simons.
Mr. Simons is described as dark brown complexioned, 5 feet 10 inches tall weighing approximately 150 pounds and is said to have a short haircut with designs.
He was apparently last seen 7:30pm Friday, October 7th in the Brunswick Street/Elliot Street Pembroke area wearing white shorts and a white T-shirt with a green and black dollar sign.
In addition, Mr. Simons is known to frequent the Charing Cross area of Sandys parish as well as the Curving Avenue area of Pembroke.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of 30 year old Jahroy Simons is encouraged to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity.
Update: The Bermuda Police Service can confirm that 30 year old Jahroy Simons has since been located and appreciate the public’s assistance in this matter.
Shooting on Court Street

Police responded to a report of a firearms incident that took place at 9:28pm on Thursday night. It appears that a lone gunman opened fire on a group of persons assembled outside of Spinning Wheel Entertainment Complex on Court Street. This resulted in a male being taken to the hospital via private vehicle with an apparent gun shot wound to the arm.
