I am looking for comment from the BPS on whether it has any plans to warn potential demonstrators of the offences they could be committing if they attempt to block Parliament? Traffic Advisory: Diversions Due to Road Paving in Paget

The motoring public is advised that the Ministry of Public Works is expected to commence road paving Sunday, January 22nd along a section of South Road in Paget from south round-a-bout to Grape Bay Drive.
To facilitate the roadwork, the following traffic diversions will be in effect from 7am Sunday:
Traffic travelling east on South Road from Paget traffic lights will be diverted onto Stowe Hill, then onto The Lane.
Reported Serious Motorcycle Crash on Harrington Sound Road

Around 7:40pm on Thursday, January 19th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle crash on Harrington Sound Road in Smith’s parish, near the junction with Broken Hill Road.
Details remain limited at this time.
However the rider, believed to be a 37 year old Paget man, was injured and taken to the hospital via ambulance for treatment.
First Road Fatality of 2017: Terry Simmons

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 62 year old Terry Simmons of Pembroke and extends condolences to his family and friends.
Mr. Simmons was seriously injured after the motorcycle he was riding apparently struck a wall in a reported single vehicle crash on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Radnor Road around 12:40am Thursday, January 19th.

Details remain limited at this time.

On Friday 13th January, 2017, a mother & son were convicted unanimously by a Supreme Court jury, of offences relating to the importation of heroin, possessing drugs with intent to supply, possessing drug equipment, and possession of criminal proceeds.
Damon Morris (26 years old) and Denise Morris (55 years old) both of Paget Parish, were put on trial on 21st November 2016, and the trial finished with the verdicts on Friday 13th January 2016 after 7 ½ weeks of legal arguments, evidence, & testimony.
BPS Officers Support 2016 BCHC ‘Movember’ Fundraising Efforts

During November 2016 Detective Superintendent Sean Field-Lament as well as a team of seven Constables consisting of Daniel Cole, Anthony Smith, Khalid Pitcher, David McHugh, Ralshon Douglas, Michael Charlton and Christopher Rodrigues grew moustaches in support of the recent Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre’s ‘Movember’ men’s health awareness campaign.
Combined, the eight men raised a total of $5,225, with Mr. Field-Lament being recognised as the top MoBro fundraiser for contributing $3,670.
Free Meals Provided at 4th Annual Southside Community Dinner

On Sunday, January 8th Eastern Community Action Team officers in conjunction with the St. George’s Parish Council and Kenny’s Kitchen held the 4th annual post-Christmas / New Year’s dinner at the Open Door Christian Assembly Church hall, Southside, St. David’s from 4pm until 6pm.
The event provided hot meals, including a dessert option, to members of the St. George’s and St. David’s communities that were able to attend the church hall - as well as a meal delivery service for those that could not.

Court: Two Canadian Visitors Charged With Fentanyl Importation

The Bermuda Police Service can confirm that two Canadian nationals, 25 year old Jacqueline Robinson and 35 year old Craig Lawrence, were initially involved in a medical emergency at the Hamilton Princess hotel on 20th December 2016.
Both were treated in hospital and subsequently arrested on suspicion of importing Fentanyl into the island.

Advisory: Counterfeit U.S. $100 Notes Circulating

The Bermuda Police Service is advising businesses and their staff as well as residents to be vigilant regarding counterfeit U.S. $100 notes currently in circulation.
The forged U.S. $100 bills have the same serial number: H1413713.
Employees are once again advised that if counterfeit cash is detected during a transaction, the member of staff receiving the fake money should hold on to it, note the description of the individual who tendered it and contact police immediately.
Fentanyl Found in Bermuda

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) wishes to advise the public that we have confirmed the presence of the controlled drug Fentanyl in Bermuda.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is associated with the misuse of heroin.
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), “Fentanyl is a dangerous, powerful Schedule II narcotic responsible for an epidemic of overdose deaths within the United States.”

BPS Regrets to Announce Death of Sergeant Gregory Grimes

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) regrets to announce the death of Sergeant Gregory MacArthur Grimes. Sergeant Grimes passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning following a medical emergency on Wednesday afternoon in which several police colleagues came to his aid.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Michael DeSilva, said: “This comes as tragic and difficult news for many of us who knew him well. Greg was highly respected and admired, and he touched the hearts of so many of our officers and support staff. He was regarded as an exemplary and compassionate supervisor who cared deeply about his colleagues, and he had a passion about policing and his community. We are all stunned by the loss of Greg and we have activated welfare and support services for any of our staff that might need them. On behalf of the officers and staff of the Bermuda Police Service and the Bermuda Reserve Police, I offer our sincere condolences to Greg's family and friends who are in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time. He will be intensely missed.”
