Murder of Jahkoby Smith

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 21 year-old Jahkoby Smith.
Around 7:15pm on Saturday 29th July, Mr. Smith was fatally stabbed after he was involved in an altercation that took place at the West End Sailboat Club, Sandy’s. At that time, there was a wake being held for the late Jahcari Francis.
Police and EMT’s rendered assistance to Mr. Smith at the scene; however, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at King Edward Memorial Hospital.

Detective Sergeant Jason Smith – Approximately 10:42 p.m. on Wednesday the 19th day of July 2017, police received several 911 calls of gun shots being heard in the area of Upland Street, Devonshire.
Armed police officers responded to the area and identified the scene of this shooting where they were directed by occupants of a residence to a room, where the lifeless body of Jahcari Antoni Francis was found lying on the floor.

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 20 year old Jahcari Francis and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Mr. Francis was fatally shot at an Upland Street, Devonshire residence around 10:45pm Wednesday, July 19th and later pronounced dead at the scene by an on call doctor.
A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support the deceased’s family at this difficult time.
Eighth Road Fatality for 2017: Sophie Fraser-Smith

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 21 year old Sophie Fraser-Smith and extends sincere condolences to her family and friends.
Ms. Fraser-Smith was seriously injured around 3:10pm Tuesday, July 18th when a truck collided with the motorcycle she was riding along Middle Road in Southampton, near the junction with Scenic Heights Pass.
She was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance but later succumbed to her injuries.
Man Arrested in Connection With Reported Wilful Damage

The Bermuda Police Service can confirm that one man has been arrested in connection with the reported wilful damage of Dunkley’s Dairy premises and vehicles earlier this evening (July 18th).
Initial information suggests that this is the act of a lone individual and the suspect remains in police custody.

Around 3:10pm Tuesday, July 18th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision involving a truck and a motorcycle on Middle Road in Southampton near Heron Bay Primary School.
The motorcyclist, believed to be a 21 year old Southampton woman, was seriously injured and rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.
Sudden Death of American Visitor Frank D’Angelo

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 69 year old Frank D’Angelo and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Mr. D’Angelo, said to be from California, was apparently snorkelling in a cove at Horseshoe Bay beach in Southampton when he became unresponsive around 2:15pm Thursday, July 13th.
The unconscious American visitor was brought to shore by members of the public where CPR was commenced.

Around 2:15pm Thursday, July 13th police and first responders were dispatched to a report of an unresponsive man in the water near Horseshoe Bay beach, Southampton.
Details are limited at this time.
However initial information suggests that the man involved, believed to be a 69 year old American visitor, was unconscious when he was brought to shore by members of the public.
Two Motorcyclists Injured in Parsons Lane Collision [Updated]

Around 4:55am Saturday, July 8th police on mobile patrol along Parsons Lane in Devonshire encountered the aftermath of a collision involving two motorcyclists.
Initial indications are that the motorcycles were being ridden in opposite directions and collided head on.
The injured riders, believed to be a 32 year old Devonshire man and a 24 year old Warwick man, were transported via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of potentially serious injuries.

Around 5:45pm Friday, July 7th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle car crash on Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton parish.
Details remain limited.
However, it appears that the crash occurred in the vicinity of the former Harrington Sound Post Office.
Motorcyclist in ICU After Reported Three Vehicle Warwick Collision [Updated]

Around 8:40pm Friday, July 7th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported three vehicle collision on Middle Road in Warwick, near the junction with Tamarind Vale.
It appears that a motorcyclist, believed to be a 27 year old Southampton man, was injured after colliding with two cars.
He was transported via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment and at last check had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
Investigation Underway After Domestic Dispute in Devonshire

Assistant Commissioner of Police Martin Weekes – Around 8:30pm Sunday, July 2nd police and first responders were dispatched to a reported domestic dispute between a couple at a Devon Spring Road, Devonshire residence.
It appears that a 33 year old Hamilton parish man and his 7 month old son were injured after falling from a second storey window.
Both father and son were transported via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment where they remain. The child’s mother was not injured.

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 59 year old Quinton Wendell Baxter and extends condolences to his family.
Around 11:30pm Saturday July 1st Mr. Baxter was found in an unresponsive state and later pronounced dead – despite lifesaving efforts – while an inmate at the Westgate Correctional Facility.
A police led investigation continues regarding the circumstances of Mr. Baxter’s death.

Sudden Death at Westgate Correctional Facility [Updated]

Around 11:30pm Saturday, July 1st police and first responders were dispatched to a report of a male inmate found in an unresponsive state at the Westgate Correctional Facility.
Despite lifesaving efforts by a Corrections officer, the 59 year old man was later pronounced dead.
A police led investigation is currently underway regarding the circumstances.

The Bermuda Police Service was recently made aware of a deceptive online employment advertisement that appeared locally, offering an enticing commission for each sale made.
Detectives from the Organised & Economic Crime Department examined the ad offering temporary employment – for a business supposedly headquartered at 26 Oxford St. Chula Vista United States – as well as an included promotional video and determined that the part time job listing exhibited the characteristics of a pyramid scheme.

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 55 year old Calvin Carmichael and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.
It has now been confirmed that Mr. Carmichael was found unconscious aboard his 24 ft. boat moored in the waters off Lagoon Park dock around 7:40pm Monday, June 26th.
Members of the public assisted police officers in securing the vessel to the dock, where emergency medical personnel commenced lifesaving efforts.

Around 7:40pm Monday, June 26th police and first responders were dispatched to a report of an unresponsive male in the Lagoon Road, Sandys parish area.
Initial information suggests that an unconscious 55 year old man, believed to be from Southampton, was found adrift aboard a boat in the waters just off Lagoon Road.
Reported Missing Person: Shania Haller [Located]

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 20 year old Shania Haller.
Ms. Haller lives in Sandys parish and is described as Caucasian, 5 feet 3 inches tall with long black hair.
She was apparently last seen at the car park in the Boaz Island, Sandys parish area around 10pm Saturday, June 24th wearing a sleeveless puffy black jacket with beige fur around the collar and carrying a motorcycle helmet.
There is concern for the wellbeing of Ms. Haller, who has never gone missing before.
In addition to frequenting Sandys parish, she is known to visit the North Shore Road Flatts (Smith’s parish) area as well as the Bailey’s Bay Hamilton parish area.
