Police Officers Respond to Domestic Dispute in Hamilton Parish

Around 6:30pm today (February 19th) police officers were dispatched to a reported domestic dispute at a North Shore Road, Hamilton parish residence.
Initial information suggests that a 45 year old man threatened to physically harm his 67 year old mother at the Crawl Hill area home.
On arrival officers located the mother unharmed and conducted an extensive search for her son, but he was not located.
Bermuda Reserve Police Bolster Links With RBR, St. John Ambulance

Over the weekend of February 2nd and 3rd 2019, the Bermuda Reserve Police hosted their fellow voluntary organisations, the Royal Bermuda Regiment and the St. John Ambulance for a round table discussion on the topics of recruitment and retention.
The discussions presented the three organisations with an open forum to talk about the challenges that they each face regarding recruitment and retention of personnel.
Selection of Inspector Emmerson Carrington & Acting Sergeant Melvin Best to the ICC Americas Regional Umpires' Panel

During the month of January 2019, Inspector Emmerson Carrington (pictured right) and Acting Sergeant Melvin Best (pictured left) were selected to the International Cricket Council (ICC) Americas Regional Umpires’ Panel along with three other umpires from Bermuda (photo courtesy of Bermuda Cricket Board).
The panel is comprised of thirteen umpires from the USA, Cayman Islands, Canada, Belize and Bermuda.
The ICC Americas region is made up of one full ICC member (West Indies) and 16 other associate members from North, Central and South America.
Inspector Carrington and Acting Sergeant Best started umpiring in Bermuda in 2009 and 2011 respectively and have developed their skills at a tremendous rate.
Both have officiated the Cup Match Classic and became the first two police officers to officiate Cup Match at the same time in 2018.
Man Assaulted at Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club Treated & Discharged

Around 11:30pm Sunday, February 10th police officers and ambulance personnel responded to a reported assault at Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club.
It appears that a 24 year old man was outside with a group of young men on the club’s porch when he was assaulted by two other men.
The club was closed at the time.
Reported Missing Person: 76 Year Old Brooke Hassan [Located]

The Bermuda Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 76 year old Brooke Hassan of North Shore Road in Pembroke. He was last seen Friday, February 8th and he is described as a brown complexioned male, grey beard and of stocky build 5’10" tall.
He was wearing a grey shirt and army green cargo pants.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the vulnerable man should contact the police on 295-0011.
Update: Please be advised the missing 76 year old man has been located. We would like to thank members of the community for assisting.
Productive Meeting Held With Owners of Central Area Liquor Licenced Establishments

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) held an informational session with Liquor Licenced Establishments (LLEs) yesterday, Thursday 7th of February 2019 at the Police Recreation Club Hall in Prospect Devonshire. This meeting was to discuss the Liquor Licence Legislation and police expectations of licenced premises based on that legislation. It was also a good opportunity to establish and continue to promote a working partnership with the police. Licensees had the occasion to put forth questions or concerns they had in relation to the closing down of their business.
Renewed Witness Appeal: Warwick Esso Service Station Armed Robbery

Detectives are renewing the appeal for witnesses to an armed robbery that occurred around 4:20pm Thursday, February 7th at the Warwick Esso Tigermart.
During the incident two men wearing dark coloured clothing – one brandishing a knife and the other brandishing what appeared to be a firearm – entered the service station, removed a quantity of cash and made good their escape.
No one was injured and the scene has been processed by the relevant police personnel.
Reported Armed Robbery at Esso Service Station in Warwick [Updated]

Police responded to a report of an armed robbery that took place at 4:21pm today at the Esso Tigermart on Middle Road in Warwick.
Details are still emerging but it appears that two males wearing all black with full faced helmets, brandished a bladed article and what appears to have been a firearm.
They were given an undisclosed amount of money and they left the area.
Coroner's Inquest Verdict: 19 Year Old Visiting American Rugby Player Mark Dombroski Died by Misadventure

The Bermuda Police Service notes the Coroner’s verdict of 'death by misadventure' in the untimely passing of Mark Dombroski.
The Bermuda Police Service conducted a thorough, professional investigation and hopefully the Coroner’s findings will bring some closure to the matter.
This was a tragic accident that greatly impacted the Dombroski family, and indeed the whole community. We continue to extend our sincere condolences to the friends and family of Mark Dombroski.
Sudden Death of 56 Year Old Wilburt Spencer

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 56 year old Mr. Wilburt Spencer and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Mr. Spencer was found by a member of the public in an unresponsive state around 1pm Monday, February 4th – in an area of trees at Corkscrew Hill, Devonshire where it is believed he had been living rough – and pronounced dead at the scene later that day by an on call doctor.

Disturbance on Random Lane [Updated]

At approximately 2:25pm today police received a report of a disturbance that took place at a residence on Random Lane in Warwick.
Early reports indicate 3 males attacked another male and a knife was brandished during the attack.
The victim, a 25 year old Warwick man sustained facial and leg injuries and presently he is being treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for injuries that do not appear to be life threatening.
Two Years Later Jahni Outerbridge Murder Investigation Continues

Two years ago, 31 year old Jahni Outerbridge was fatally shot around 11:20pm (Sunday 29th January 2017) outside the Mid-Atlantic Boat Club on North Shore Road in Devonshire.
Detectives continue to investigate his murder and renew their appeal for anyone with information that can assist in bringing the perpetrator(s) to justice to come forward.
Docksider Pub & Restaurant Closed for 24 Hours After Anti-Social Incident

As a result of an anti-social incident that took place at Docksider Pub & Restaurant last weekend, the Bermuda Police Service has used the power under the Liquor Licence Act, Section 51A to close this establishment from Friday January 25th at 10pm until Saturday January 26th at 10pm.
It is imperative that liquor licenced premises take ‘social responsibility’ for the safety of their patrons and the conduct of those persons who threaten that safety, which has a profound effect on the community that they are a part of and Bermuda as a whole.
JetBlue Flight Diverted Due to Unwell Passenger [Updated]

Police can report that a 49 year old female Jamaican national residing in New York took ill on a JetBlue flight from Antigua.
As a result, the flight was instructed to divert to Bermuda in the abundance of caution.
On arrival at L.F. Wade International Airport the passenger was going in and out of consciousness.

BPS Mourns the Death of Station Duty Officer Donna Roberts

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) mourns the death of Station Duty Officer Ms. Donna Roberts.
She passed away last Wednesday afternoon (January 16th) at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Roberts started with the BPS as a Traffic Warden on July 7th 1997 and after ten years was assigned as a Station Duty Officer, starting work in that role on September 4th 2007.
She also served with the Bermuda Reserve Police from 1997 until 2008.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Stephen Corbishley said: “It is with deep sadness that I learned of the death of our colleague, Station Duty Officer (SDO) Donna Roberts, at the age of 61.
Donna served with the BPS for over 20 years, and is fondly remembered for her pleasant manner, positive attitude, and highly active service both as a Traffic Warden and SDO.
Reported Single Vehicle Car Crash on South Road in Paget [Updated]

Police responded to a report of an incident that took place on South Road in Paget 100 metres west of the entrance to Elbow Beach at 7:42pm today (Saturday).
It appears that a male driver of the car lost control of his vehicle resulting in the car going down an embankment by Coral Beach.
The driver and passenger were assisted out of the car by a member of the public and the driver, a 63 year old male was arrested for suspicion of driving whilst impaired.
